“. . . in exploring one’s narrative, one’s personal story, it is important to reflect somatically, which is to say, with one’s feelings, on this inner sense of otherness. We do that without naming it at first, just feeling into it and allowing one’s intuition to be filled with its wonder. And because one’s personal magical narrative is not merely a matter of one’s history and experience in this lifetime, but includes all our previous incarnations, deep feeling and sensory experience is the best and most direct way to link ours’elves to the progress of our life through time.”
The awareness of being elven, faerie or otherkin is nearly always an intuitive and instinctual recognition of one’s inner being. This awareness or awakening comes from the inside out. Often we relate to what we read or see in books, videos, films and television and they arouse our imagination and connect us to something deep within our being. At the same time, we often use these stories from fantasy, myth, legend and lore to explain what we feel about ours’elves to the world. However, while these presentations and descriptions of ours’elves that we glean from the outer world remind us of ours’elves, there is ever an inner narrative that comes first, from our soulful spirits, from our subconscious and instinctual being that has waited there like a seed or daemon to receive the moisture and light of those characterizations to stimulate them into growth. And this is seldom something we can verbally express at first and, like the seed beneath the soil, it arises from our feelings and subconscious being more than our logic that would be the light of day.
This feeling awareness is something that comes prior to the outer narrative that we build concerning and describing ours’elves and that we use to express ours’elves to the world. This awareness or, we might say, this story (or faerie tale, if you will) of our elven spirit stems from an inner knowing of who we are as elfae beings and that arises from a place within us that does not use words so much as feeling and it’s first expression outwardly is in symbols and images. This explains why so many elfae and otherkin that are newly awakened do not know their tribe name or exactly what words to use to describe their kin type, they just feel they are Other.
First of all, we just know we are different. Most elfae folk have felt apart from those around us, felt different, even alienated from the normal world that to us makes no sense, or very little, at least. The need of the normal folk to compete over everything and to continually undermine each other, constantly serves to push us away from them and toward a more loving and supportive environment. We ever seek our own. And quite often it is in encountering our own, which is to say, crossing the path of awakened elfae, that our inner being first pushes its’elf above the surface of our unconscious awareness.
And this difference between ours’elves and those around us, the divergence between how we feel, what we really know within, how we feel the world should be and how it actually is due to the behavior of the normal folk, makes it so we often know internally long before we are aware mentally that we are elves or otherkin. Which is to say, we know we are different, but we haven’t as yet given a name or description to that difference.
Thus, in exploring one’s narrative, one’s personal story, it is important to reflect somatically, which is to say, with one’s feelings, on this inner sense of otherness. We do that without naming it at first, just feeling into it and allowing one’s intuition to be filled with its wonder. And because one’s personal magical narrative is not merely a matter of one’s history and experience in this lifetime, but includes all our previous incarnations, deep feeling and sensory experience is the best and most direct way to link ours’elves to the progress of our life through time.
This inner sense and feeling will also speak to us through our dreams (both our night dreams and also our day dreams), although again it tends to speak in images and symbols rather than in the language of logic. Also, when we are in Nature, we will surely come to understand more about and connect to our inner source and narrative of who we truly are. Again, this won’t necessarily happen in words so much as in feeling. And what words there are may seem like a puzzle or a riddle that one must decipher, just as one most often needs to examine the elements of one’s dreams to understand them.
It is later that we find the words that relate to and make understandable in language our life upon the Earthly plane in order to express this inner knowledge of s’elf. Those who look upon us from the outside, even most academic researchers in religion, sociology and other disciplines, most often neglect this understanding of our being. They, naturally, see us from their own point of view, often their preconceived notions. And they nearly always fail to understand who we are truly and really how we came to understand our being.
These narrative studies can be very informative but they seldom make a distinction between the inner narrative from which our outer narrative springs. They see our beings as they are expressed by and in relation to the world around us, which is to say when we use movies and books to explain ourselves, but they often fail to comprehend the inner spirit that reaches out and makes that link in the first place.
In a certain sense, our inner and outer narratives are similar to having an elf name (or normal name) that we use in the world and an elf name that is our spiritual signature and which is our occult or secret name. While we Silver Elves have elf names we use in the world (and also normal names when necessary), we also have elfin spirit names that were gifted to us by our sisters of the Elf Queen’s Daughters (see our books The Elf Magic Mail, vols. 1 & also vol. 2), of which we were and are still a part and only the inner sisterhood knows those names. But that, beloved, is another and deeper narrative.
So search within, dear Kindred, and find and enjoy your deep feelings of being who you are naturally for as long as you will. Come back to this feeling often, without words, for that state of deep somatic contemplation is when you are in touch with your true soulful elfae spirit and this is from whence your magical narrative for the external world will spring.

It is the third book in the series of Elf, Fae and Otherkin tribes by The Silver Elves. After publishing the first two books in this series, we Silver Elves continued to have many of our kindred fill out the kin type survey and contact us asking for a tribe narrative, so this third book in the series contains all of these new tribe narratives to this date and is dedicated to a variety of tribes of elven kind, faeries, fae that are faerie blends, otherkin, otherworldlies, and miscellaneous assorted fae. The 124 tribe narratives in this third volume are all newly published and are not found in the two previous books. Some of the narratives are a bit longer than those in the first two books.
And our fourth book in this series of tribal narratives is Elfae Tribes: The Peoples of Faerie, which includes a total of 115 tribes of elves, faerie, fae and otherkin, all of which are newly published and are not found in the first three volumes in this series.

We invite you to join our elven and otherkin groups on Facebook, dear Kindred! Here is our vision for the groups as a virtual community:
For those wishing to join our many Silver Elves groups for Elfae and also friends of Elfae on Facebook, here is fairly complete list below of ones that we administer: You are all invited to any and all of them! We envision our 16+ Elfae Facebook groups as all connected (so in a way all one big elfae community group) and so going from one to the other is like meandering or flying around and being in a large elven community. It is like beautiful and enchanting large multi-story house that is inhabited by a number of elfae groups: (bottom floor has three private groups inside: The Elven Way and also Feasting with the Elves with a big kitchen and dining area for chatting, along with the Elven Homegroup); (second floor has the Faerie Craft group with a large display studio for elfae art); and (in the attic is the Elven Oracles Group where group oracle readings are always being shared). There are also lots of large enclosed or screened in porches off the main house (where you will find: Magical Books of the Silver Elves, Elfin Faerie Lore, Elven Life and Magic and We Adore Elves); there are also two gazebos, one is outside in the front lawn for Elvish Magical Chat and the other is in the back yard for I heart Elven Magic; an open circle outside around the bonfire to the side of the house for the Elf Witches of the Mystic Moon group; a quaint tree house out front for Elfae Tree Folk to meet; a faerie circle that is a bit beyond the back of the house in the forest for The Faerie Circle group to meet; and at the front gate is a cozy elfae cottage for those first entering to be greeting in the group Silver Elves Embassy. There is also a path from the house that wanders down to the creek and goes through where the group Nature and the Unseen Realms with the Elves and Otherkin meet and also that leads to meeting placesfor United Otherkin Alliance and its private sister group. So please do come join us in any and all of our groups:

How can you tell the difference between being elfae/otherkin and being a plain old human who just doesn’t fit in for whatever reason?
