When Faerie Returns Will There Still be a Race of Men? And Are Elves Halflings, Part Mankind, due to Manifesting in Human Bodies?

“. . . having human bodies doesn’t make us men at all but rather makes men (mankind), at least in part and potential, Elfae . . . . Eventually, those who are pretending to be men will become whatever they really are. Trolls will become trolls, grimlins will be become grimlins, kobolds will become kobolds and gnomes, gnomes. And Men (Mankind)? There will be Men who will become Super-Men, super heroes, as they have ever told us. They will use their strength to fight for what is right, to protect the innocent and the weak and make the world a better place, safer place for all. Although, it is true in becoming Super Men, they will be much more like elves and fae.”

Some people think that Mankind will eventually evolve into elves or some other kind of elfae. While that is surely possible, and definitely possible for some “men,” we Silver Elves find it unlikely to be the case for all Men — although we don’t really know. We’re just considering this idea and pondering it to see if it does have any substance to it at all.

     One of the great difficulties with understanding this issue is that Men, like Elves in that sense, are rather hard to define, although for different reasons. Men, which curiously denotes both men and women, seem to ever hold themselves as being dominate over women and if not that, then at least essentially different than women, while at the same time defining them as one race.

     We elves on the other hand have little gender consciousness. We are elves first and foremost and nearly all elves have a balance of their masculine and feminine features of their being even as we manifest as male or female, or both in a particular incarnation. We know that there are differences due to our physical bodies, but our spirits, which are our true s’elves, are ever elves whether we choose to manifest as male or female in any given lifetime. We also note that we may manifest in bodies that go bald, have pointed ears or not, have red, black, brown or blond hair, various eye colors and other material differences that happen to come along with the body we choose as most efficacious for filling our mission in this or some other life. Our true bodies are energy and light and we are well aware of this fact.

     Mankind, on the other hand, doesn’t seem aware of their energetic natures for the most part and this is what leads some individuals to hypothesis that they will transform into more elfin beings when they eventually become awakened to the spiritual nature of the Universe and themselves. And by that we don’t mean religious beliefs but an awakening to the reality that spirit and consciousness are the source of Life and the material world is merely a temporary form we’ve created with our consciousness by formulating light into structure.

     Part of the difficulty may be that Mankind is a kind of catch all term for many races. It is a concept that has been applied to those in human form overall and thus people think we elves are really men or women, that orcs are men, and pixies and brownies and goblins and all manner of folk have been raised with the idea that they are part of Mankind, when in fact they are really something quite different. It is as though we were all made physically to put on the same uniform and thus everyone assumes we must be the same despite quite obvious differences in our being and characters.

     The idea of Mankind is an attempt to organize the world, mostly by those who wish to dominate it but also by those who think that uniformity will create a peaceful society, that differences are the source of conflict in the world and if we would all pretend we were the same then everything would be wonderful.

     But when we come to the realization that we are really all different, what then? Will Men (Mankind) still be Men? When Men realize there is magic in the world, will they still be Men? Of course, this dismissal of magic is mostly a current fad. Men believed in magic in the past and some still do.

     But most men are of a heroic character. They are not so much magicians for the most part, or enchanters like we elves, but warriors. At least that is what their own lore tells us of them. Although, they seem somewhat uncertain about what being heroic actually entails. They seem to confuse it at times with being strong, courageous and powerful but they don’t always remember that heroism isn’t just about fighting and overcoming one’s adversaries, but standing up for what is true and right and good in the world. They are inclined at times to confuse bullying with heroic behavior, but again that may be because some Unseelie races who are not so inclined toward the heroic hide among them.

     But, if we accept Men at their word, and we Silver Elves think we are obligated to do so, at least until they utterly prove otherwise, then Mankind is a spiritual race whose greatest values revolve around being brave and enduring despite all obstacles. Eventually, those who are pretending to be men will become whatever they really are. Trolls will become trolls, grimlins will be become grimlins, kobolds will become kobolds and gnomes, gnomes. And Men (Mankind)? There will be some Men who will become Super-Men, super heroes, as they have ever told us. They will use their strength to fight for what is right, to protect the innocent and the weak and make the world a better place, safer place for all. And while we are on the subject of elves and mankind. . . . .

Are Elves Halflings, Part Mankind, due to Manifesting in Human Bodies?

This is an interesting question and it brings to mind another question which is “How much of our being is based upon the body that we choose to or find ours’elves incarnate within.” Certainly, from the point of view of most of Mankind, who currently view the world from a basically materialistic viewpoint due greatly to the influence of the Dark or Material Age or Kali Yuga we are currently in, having human bodies would make us who are elfae beings, at least in part, Men. Although, most of those of us who are elfae have been told in our lives, especially those of us manifesting in male bodies, we are not really ‘real men’ at all. At least, this is according to those men and women who deem themselves self-appointed authorities on this subject.

And honestly, we have no real interest in being considered ‘real men’ and we do not even pretend to be so except in those instances when to do otherwise would be to endanger us — endanger those very bodies — for Men tend to be hostile, paranoid and sometimes violent concerning those whom they view as being different to them, even other men.

Of course, quite a few men have informed us that they were made in the ‘image and likeness’ of their god. If that is the case, then ‘image and likeness’ would essentially indicate their bodies and thus in having humanoid bodies, like men, we would not be halflings who are half men but rather halflings who are half or part divine. And this is surely true. Certainly, we elves have a divine time being together.

However, while we do think that bodies, overall, are rather divine and the human form surely wondrous, we also think dogs, cats, horses, tigers, hawks and other creatures quite wondrous as well in their bodies, as well are the trees, flowers and plants and all manner of being. We elves are of the opinion, however, that, for the most part, it is not our human bodies that make us divine but our elven spirits that link us to the magical and wondrous aspects of the Universe and Nature. Although, we’ve encountered some pretty divine bodies in our time.

Our true link to Mankind, therefore, would not actually be our humanoid bodies, for there are elven trees and elven dogs and elves in various other forms that don’t have human bodies. But, on the contrary, it would be our divine spirit and its magical potential that actually connects us to Mankind as well as to everything else in the Universe, by the function of our soulful being.

We might apply the same sort of question, in a way, to Unicorns. Are Unicorns halfling horses? Or perhaps, mostly horses (usually, for there are also goat unicorns, we’ve photos of ours’elves with one, see the cover of our book Liber Aelph)? Well, sort of. But at the same time, even though Unicorns have a horse body with a horn, it is so special and marvelous that the Unicorn is something quite other really. Something so magical that it is no longer a horse really, but something greater. Perhaps Horse 2.1 or something.

While we elves are clearly related to Men, as we are to the all of life, our bodies do not make us half men. On the contrary, due to the fact that all the legends, lore and myths about us say that we are the Elder people, the first humanoid race that predates the creation of Mankind, having human bodies doesn’t make us men at all but rather makes men, at least in part and potential, Elfae.

Awakening
“While we’ve often written that faery tales, both ancient and modern, view the faery folk as being ruled by monarchs, this idea is more a reflection of the lives of men and of the world that was and is than a true indication of the Realms of Elfin. This is not to say that there doesn’t exist a Hierarchy in Faery, but that it is important to understand that this Hierarchy is a natural one based on real development and merit and not in the least arbitrary or artificially constructed. All hierarchies, organizations and bureaucracies in the world are a pale attempt to recreate, or in many cases bypass or supersede, this natural hierarchy.”

“The hierarchy of Elfin is a spiritual hierarchy—the hierarchy of illuminated being, of s’elf development of magical maturity—and thus it is the power, of awakened consciousness and expanded and enlightened awareness. Besides the attempts of many to construct this hierarchy in the world, it is also reflected in Nature, where there are hierarchies of intelligence, of knowledge, of personality, beauty, strength, and so forth. While artificial hierarchies tend to be rather strictly structured and unyielding, these natural hierarchies, reflective of the true spiritual hierarchy, are varied and yielding. For instance, while there are general tendencies, we don’t all agree about who is most beautiful or most attractive. It is rather like the question, what is your favorite color? It depends on the individual. So, too, the natural hierarchies are, like the true inner hierarchy, dependent greatly on the individual and their own position in the Universe, their individual tendencies.”

“There is another way that the spiritual hierarchy tends to differ from all artificial hierarchies and even from the hierarchy of Nature. Artificial hierarchies tend to be pyramid schemes with one or a few people on the top and increasing numbers of individuals in various levels below with the greatest number on the bottom. This formula does not tend to change. The one at the top may change. Sometimes, but rarely one’s position on the hierarchy may change, but the structure tends to stay the same. In fact, that is its purpose to reinforce itself and maintain this structure.”

“On the other hand, while the spiritual hierarchy may have more on the bottom than the top at any particular point, the goal and purpose of this hierarchy is to get everyone at the top, to have everyone progress further and further into the realms of Elfin, the realms of radiant enlightenment.”

“We might think of it as a game. In the game of the material world the first ones to reach home win; everyone else is considered a loser. In the spiritual game, we gain points when each one reaches home and our ultimate goal is to get everyone home. Then and only then have we truly won the game.”
