“. . . it is that in our opinion, such vows should arise, if they ever do, spontaneously. They should spring from the heart and always be freely taken, if at all. In late 1975, while we were visiting our sisters of the Fox River Vortex of the Elf Queen’s Daughters, we, with another sister, dedicated ours’elves to the Elven Way and the Path of the Elven and swore to the spirits, Nature and the Universe that we would continue on and endure on the path as long as we were able. There had been a gathering and a bonfire the night before for there had been nearly two dozen elves and elf friends together at the Fox River Vortex, including elves who had traveled down from their vortex in Minnesota and most of them had spent the night sleeping over. Every bed and all the couches and some of the floor had been occupied.
The fire had mostly burnt out at that point in the morning, although we probably could have fanned a few hidden embers had we desired, but what we did was take the ashes from the night’s fire and anointed each other as we took our vows.
These vows, however, where utterly spontaneous. No one demanded that we take them, and in fact, our elven sister Melryn, of the Fox River Elves, chuckled a bit when we told her what we had done and embraced us. We made up the words as we went along and the whole ceremony, if you would call it that, took us about a minute to create and perform. These vows had sprung from a heartfelt wish to dedicate ours’elves to the Elven Path, and were a response to the great joy we felt in being with and knowing our elven kindred and the delight of being awakened.
So, it is that in our opinion, such vows should arise, if they ever do, spontaneously. They should spring from the heart and always be freely taken, if at all. There is no obligation to dedicate ones’elf to the Elven Way. Although it is so that we do often have charismatic individuals whose magic and enchantment and progress upon the Elven Way inspires and thus guides us to do greater things ours’elves and increase our own power and potency while simultaneously empowering our others.
We stay upon the Elven Way because it gives us joy and draws to us to those who are truly our kindred. Of course, it sometimes draws others as well. Others who are not quite ready to develop thems’elves. Are not prepared for the rigors of this Path (and it can be quite rigorous). Who seek personal advantage and only give lip service to the inner essence of the Elven Way. But that is to be expected. Nearly everyone who has even a bit of Elven Spirit in them, will be aroused, at least a bit, by encountering us. We give them what we may, what they can absorb and often a bit more until their cup overfloweth, and then we continue on our way, and if they cannot come along with us as yet, we will surely see them again, as we pass by once more in the future lifetime.
And the Elven Way is not easily perceived or understood because, rather like Faerie its’elf, it changes according to individuals involved. We adapt to the life elfin but Elfin also adapts its’elf to us. It is a very individualistic path, even while it draws us closer and closer together. Our union becomes strong because we are confident individuals. We don’t need appointed (usually self-appointed) leaders because we are each in the process of leading ours’elves and directing our own lives. If others learn from our example that is surely a blessing for them and for us.
We can tell you this for certain. If those you encounter demand money from you to be part of the elven way or path, they are probably not elves, most likely goblins. If they have strict rules you have to follow, you are probably dealing with grimlins. If you are arbitrarily forced to take a vow, then they are most likely grimlins as well, although possibly orcs, unless it is really a scam for money and then we are back to goblins.
Would you dedicate yours’elf to the Elven Way? Then do so. And if you wish to take a vow to affirm that dedication, you will, being the elf that you are, probably have to make that vow up yours’elf. There is no obligation involved. Always, vow or no vow, be true to your own s’Elf. Many have tread the path, left it and returned again. We will be here for you as long as we are able and when we pass from this life, surely, we’ll see you again in another. But that is up to you really. We, for our part, will always be here for you, it’s just that here changes location from time to time. We are, after all, stardust surfing in the Stellar winds.

“The Elven Way is the spiritual path of the Elves. It is not a religion. While all elves are free to pursue whatever spiritual path they desire, or not as the case may be, The Silver Elves are magicians and follow no particular religious dogma. We do however believe in all the Gods and Goddesses, (also Santa Claus [to whom we’re related], the tooth fairy [distant cousins] and the Easter or Ostara Bunny [no relation]) and try to treat them all with due respect. The Elven Way promotes the principles of Fairness, that is to say both Justice, Elegance and Equal Opportunity and Courtesy that is respectful in its interactions and attitude toward all beings, great or small. We understand the world as a magical or miraculous phenomena, and that all beings, by pursuing their own true path, will become whomever they truly desire to be. Our path is that of Love and Magic and we share our way with all sincerely interested individuals.”
“To remind us ever of the need to rise up and lift our others with us, to have compassion for others even those who oppose us, to endeavor to understand the true natures and motivations not only of ours’elves but all others, the Shining Ones send us Sages who appear in many forms, in nearly all cultures and speak though various social and religious philosophies encouraging us to strive toward the light, to seek ever the good of all, and to further spiritual evolution in all that we do. The Elven Way gives our lives meaning and purpose. We come to understand who we truly are, that is that we are spirits evolving and we establish a purpose in our lives, which generally might be expressed as aiding ours’elves and all others to fulfill ours’elves perfectly. That is to say, we become who are truly are, which is who we truly desire to be. Remember, we ever wish to be our own true s’elves as perfectly as possible, which means among other things to be happy and successful forever, to live Happily Ever After.”
