We Silver Elves have spoken of Awakening, which is when someone realizes, often quite suddenly and frequently unexpectedly, that one is elven or fae or other of some variety, and elves are all about variety. We’ve heard and read many tales of various elves’ experiences with their Awakening, but almost nothing is ever said about Re-Awakening, which is also an elven phenomenon. So what is Re-Awakening?
In a sense, every awakening is a re-awakening. How can that be? Well, everyone, or at least nearly every elf or fae who awakens, is awakening because of something that is deep within them. Memories of past lives sometimes flash before their consciousness. And often, not so much memories as feelings of our lives in the past or our elven heritage. We have been elves before. We have been elves forever and the Awakening is often just a realization of this reality.
One might wonder then why we don’t just come into this life knowing, from the very beginning, that we are elfae of some sort, but there are several reasons why this doesn’t often happen. First of all, it is a simple truth that the vast majority of us are just not advanced enough to have obtained continuity of consciousness and come into this life with complete recall of our previous lives. For most of us such memories are fragmentary at best, often fanciful and mixed liberally with imagination.
But there is also some significance to such forgetfulness and that is it allows us to encounter the world purely at first, with a fresh unprejudiced eye and this initial encounter with the world often serves as a sort of inoculation for the elfae. We get a good dose of it and are thus protected from its madness.
In each life we come in anew, as our sages have often advised us to do, looking at the world with the eyes of a child, and we see the world as it currently is before we then awaken and remember and compare it to our previous and ancient lives as elves. Such comparisons usually are not favorable to the current state of the world, but we are always hoping that one day we will come into a world that is quite like our ancient elven realms or so close that our efforts to establish Elfin on Earth will bear great fruit.
But there is another sense in which we use the term Re-Awakening and that is concerning those Elfae who have wandered from the path and then returned with their faith renewed. They, in that sense, Re-Awaken their realization of their elfae nature. This Re-Awakening is usually much less dramatic than their first Awakening in this life, or as we say, perhaps their first Re-Awakening in this incarnation.
Why they wandered from the elven path usually has to do with the fact that we elves are few and far between in the world at this time. We Silver Elves don’t offer our kindred what they have often come to expect from the world that they were raised within, which is to say, rules, authoritarian leadership and preciseness. We tell people to think for their own s’elves, to create their own unique ‘ealds’ (elven home/space) and to decide for their own s’elves what they truly wish to be and inherently are. But as much as the newly awakened often wish for more directive guidance, it just isn’t good for them in the long run. The habits (hobbits?) of the world will not serve them in Elfin.
Of course, there are those who just came to us in the first place because this, that, or some other book or movie about elves stirred some little part of them that is elfae. But in time their excitement faded and they lost interest and wandered off elsewhere looking to continue the thrill. This is rather and actually very much like relationships and romances.
We often begin relationships with a bang, so to speak, and everything is exciting in the beginning. But if we move toward commitment in any fashion, that is to say we strive to sustain the relationship, then the work begins. The thrill that initiated the relationship has often faded and the day-to-day effort to keep the relationship alive comes to the fore. Some folks when faced with this reality merely move from one relationship to another, ever trying to experience that thrill again.
And this is often the same with those who come to us through a fad. They loved the thrill but the effort to continue their life in Elfin is just too much for them. They are just not developed enough in their elfae s’elves to continue on their own, and alas the support network that would help them do that just doesn’t exist as yet.
But this does not bother us. We nurture all our kindred as best we may, when they first awaken, when they re-awaken and even, if they allow us to do so, when they wander off. We are ever here for them. Ever here for each and every one of you, dear sisters and brothers. But what we have to give and offer isn’t always what people imagine or expect. We have but simple elven magic and blessings for you and they are ever freely given and you are always welcome to them and welcome here in Elfin.
