Finding Kindred

March 28, 2017

Certainly the question we get asked the most, usually by those who are newly exploring their elven nature, is where to find one’s kindred elfae and how to connect with them. Alas, while we say, and quite accurately, that this is a question most asked by the newly awakened, it is unfortunately a problem that confronts most elves no matter how long they have been awakened or how evolved as elfin they may be. The only difference is that those who have been awakened for a good deal of time have usually found one or two elves that they can associate with regularly, although the difficulty with finding new kindred remains the same.

The fact is that in this day and age elves are few and far between. Going to faerie and elf fests or pagan festivals, for those can do that and many of us cannot afford to do this or do it often, is a means for connecting with others of our kind; the smaller the festival, in fact, in most cases, the better. And social media is another way to connect, but for these elves most of our relationships have come via destiny and our own elf work, which is to say the creative activity, in our case writing the Magical Elven Love Letters and other of our books and sharing them as much as we are able. Thus our advice to those seeking other elves or fae is to create some form of elven art/writing/music and share it as widely as possible.

Magic Talks: Being a Correspondence Between The Silver Elves and the Founders of The Elf Queen’s Daughters

July 25, 2016

Magic Talks is a collection of letters between the two sisters who are the founders of the Elf Queen’s Daughters (in 1973), Arwen and Elanor, and the Silver Elves, Zardoa and Silver Flame. This is the first book in a series of Tulku internet correspondence beginning in November of 2011 and ending in February 2012. Arwen and Elanor are also the original publishers of the “Magic Elf Letters” sent out from the Elf Queen’s daughters. They published three letters a week for about three years. In the early 1979 the Silver Elves carried on these letters calling them “The Magical Elven Love Letters” and continued writing and publishing them for the next 30 years, although on a much more whimsical schedule. There are a number of letters in Magic Talks discussing how Arwen and Elanor first started using the acute seven-pointed star as a symbol of the Elven people, passed on by Zardoa Silverstar, which has been adopted by elven and faerie folk all over the globe, and is called both the Elven Star and the Faerie Star (see sample of letter #20 below). The letters contained in Magic Talks cover a wide range of topics from Tolkien to Sorcery, from Esoteric Buddhism and the Supra-dimensional to Elven Magic.

Excerpt from Magic Talks:
Letters No. 1 . . . . In The Stardust of The

Akashic Record

MANY CULTURES HAVE ARISEN, NEFFIE AND ZARDOA . . . .

. . . . through out the passing ages. Tens of thousands of years come to a peak in a visionary now-ness, allowing for insight- hindsight. The sage can gaze forward and backwards, making hope possible for the people. We share our revelations and before you know it, another culture is born.

Sometimes we think: counter-culture or cultural evolution or even enculturation itself are all nothing but one vast concept. This kind of thinking defies true reason. However, it is the way

most people generally choose to think. Ancient teachers reveal to us a perspective of long lost and forgotten cultures. Some few were once superior to those that are presently known to us. Every culture has a birth, middle age of achievement and finally, its slow period of decrepitude and death.

Eventually conquered, cities were usually set to fire, with all the remaining inhabitants sold into slavery. A rare number of these archaic cultures remain in the AKASHA. Only our finest imaginings break through to attain a glimpse of the eternal record of everything that came before us, all that is ‘written in the “stardust” of the AKASHIC RECORD’ . . .

Love,
Arwen and Elanor [Founders of the Elf Queen’s Daughters]

(Reply from the Silver Elves to letter #1 from Arwen and Elanor)

In the long ages of the Stars… beloved,

… civilizations vast have come and gone and their numbers are beyond imagining, How many more will follow this fate until you and we have passed beyond all such considerations into those realms that pay as much heed to these worlds as we involve ourselves in the lives of ant colonies are too many to even speculate; but all of us, like children born destined to grow old, tread the path of evolutionary development, each in our own time and way, as best we can for where we are at the moment, and as you have so wisely observed it is best if upon casting our gaze on others that we know however inadequate they may seem to us that they are also doing the best they can. Still, if it wasn’t for the promptings of our inner selves and our beloved kindred urging us to greater spirit and soulfulness as well as inspiring us with their own mighty spirits we surely would be less than we are, and these elves are ever thankful for the inspiration and nurturing we have received from our beloved kin.

Give our love to all there, Zardoa and Neffie [Silver Flame]

Letters No. 20 . . . . Origin of The Elven Seven- Pointed Star

THE SEVEN POINTED STAR, ZARDOA . . . .

. . . . goes way back. To say the least, it can always be found in various (from spikes at approximately 51 degrees to broadly spaced angular arrangements of the same) public police dept. stars, indicating civil authority. We were (cogently) drawn to the seven pointed star for more mystical reasons. Tibetan mysticism (very esoteric, if not absolutely cryptic), bases a great many treatises upon 7 rays and this proved extremely functional to our deeper studies.

Djwal Khul (an adept) was the primary source for a ‘TOLKU’ type transmission-vehicle used extensively by both Alice Bailey and Madam Blavatsky (1870 – 1950). He orchestrated the integration of Tibetan Esotericism with Western European-American- Occultism at the behest of his superiors (i.e., The Lodge Of Masters). Djwal Khul made use of a septette-arrangement consisting of 7 rays (i.e., assuming an unseen 8th or resolution of the octave) to great advantage (pedagogically speaking); hence, we envision a seven pointed star.

Of course, I loved the seven pointed star for several other outstanding reasons. These issues caught me up in a flash of intuition and perhaps, genuine ecstatic-rapture (of fairly reasonable proportions). I was only 28 – 35 years old and strangely given over to all such “magical” and/or “mystical”, swooning type of 1960’s antics but, I was also definitely impacted by “Lodge Of Masters” impressions, at that particular time. I really felt rather ‘captured’ by the guides that so kindly made themselves available to “little ole me”.

Discovering, to my own surprise, that the ‘angle of reflection’ of the Egyptian Pyramids was 51 degrees almost proved to be way

‘too much for me to handle’. I felt very akin (at that particular time, in the 70’s) to “The Brotherhood Of Luxor” and have continued a loose relationship with ‘The Nile River Adepts’ ever since then. A true pyramid could not function properly without those Egyptian “engineers” making use of the 51 degree (the seven pointed star configuration) coordinates for actual construction.

It is perfectly true that the seven pointed star is a bit difficult to construct but not if you have a simple protractor or a basic sense of geometry’s functions. Five points (5 pointed star) are said to represent the five senses, a man with arms, legs and a head; however, add two more points (for seven total) and the man indicates two wings to match his arms and legs with a head. An angelic evolution can be simultaneous envisioned with a human evolution, something all esotericists have been hinting at for 20,000 years.

That’s it, my Son. A great host perpetually hinting and whispering, successfully, to Paleolithic and eventually modern man; resulting in a set of primary symbols that can touch the soul as does poetry. 5 senses are cool but 7 lead to supra- dimensional awareness.

FREEDOM IS DEFINITELY FOR THE BIRDS

Love,
Arwen
P.S. what e’re a star can do to stimulate the higher mind’s got to be good for ya

(Reply from the Silver Elves to letter #20)

Thank you… Beloved Arwen,

… for the letter on the Seven-pointed Star. It was genuinely enlightening and we had not realized that the angle of the

pyramids was identical to that of the Elven Star. What a revelation.

About 15 or so years ago, Zardoa had a dream in which Princess Diana invited him to a huge mansion where she introduced him to Prince Charles who escorted him to the rooftop where a priest/wizard/druid was awaiting him. The druid told him to inscribe the inverted Elf Star in light in the air to channel the energy and power of Faerie into the material world and thus awaken it and the elves in this realm. Zardoa has been following this dream injunction periodically, when the time seems right, ever since.

As to our friend, mentor, and guide Djwal Khul we are indeed familiar with his works both through our studies with you in the Sorcery Group, our weekly studies with our old colleague “Pippin” that lasted over a decade, and our own studies earlier in our lives and incarnations when we had a long and intimate relationship with the Tibetan, at one point in a previous incarnation living with and under his tutelage from the esoteric and etheric realms of being. We, at some point, parted company with him under very friendly circumstances when we set forth to pursue and hopefully in time fulfill the mission offered to us and which we accepted. He remains in our hearts and fond memories. We still remember his rugged, lined but quite distinguished and handsome face which ever bore a quiet smile and eyes that gleamed with knowing and understanding. We remember the very day we parted company. We even apologized for leaving him, but he was silent, smiling at us as always and embracing us and patting our backs affectionately as we turned to go. Such ages ago, but it is still etched in our memories.

Then not long after that our elven kin found us wandering in the jungle that is the modern world and awakened us so our memories came flooding back and we remembered what it was

our hearts and souls had so eagerly and insistently been in search of.

Ancient Egypt, on the other hand, has never really called to us and we are certain that our paths tread elsewhere in the period. Of Babylon and Sumer do we sing, of ancient Akkadia and our Annunaki ancestors our thoughts go still, the Shining Ones, the Star Spirits, the hyper-dimensional beings that have fostered and nurtured us though space/time. But that we are cousins to the Egyptians, brother/sister of that Lodge of Initiates through the Greater Frasority that lives among the Stars, is very clear.

And now, after all this time, we are here on the very cusp of a New Age where humanity will rise or fall, either to yield to the new ones being born from them or resist unto death in an obstinate refusal to change. Either way, we will depart this life knowing we have done our best, and for those of us on this path, what more is there to say? Sometimes at night a faerie sits below and just a bit away from our window and sings in such a lovely voice, not to us specifically, but to the night and stars, and we think again of how very blessed we have been.

May starlight filter through your dreams and sing to you of Faerie.

0. Awakening: Something Magic This Way Comes, Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long

TAROT: THE MAGICIAN

Something Magic This Way Comes

Something Magic This Way Comes is a card of blessing and good luck. An unexpected turn of affairs brings new magic into your life, refreshing and revitalizing you. Other signs will confirm this soon.
Greet this change of circumstances with optimism and enthusiasm, thus making the most of it. Something Magic This Way Comes is a confirmation of the power of the good and the beautiful to renew itself. It is a response from Faerie to the magic you have already done and that is now coming to fruition.
However, Something Magic This Way Comes also implies that we must wait for the magic to arrive. It is coming but it hasn’t come yet. It’s on its way but still we must await it with patience as well as expectation.
This card holds the promise therefore of good to come, of the triumph of good over evil, of the return of health and healing after illness, or the beginnings of understanding after estrangement and clarity in the wake of confusion.
The magic time is coming. Have faith; trust in its arrival. Know that the Dawn will disperse the darkness, that Spring will chase away winter’s chill, bringing new growth and renewal.

Visualization:

The feeling has been growing for weeks now and each day it gets stronger. Something is about to happen. Something special. Something Magic This Way Comes.
You tingle inside. Power surges through your body. You feel like you can hardly contain it and you are alive with expectancy. Something comes. Something magic. You can feel it in the wind. The trees whisper about it. The birds call to you, telling you it’s coming. “It’s coming. It’s coming,” they say.
Your power is calling you. It’s as though someone suddenly plugged you into a wall socket. The electricity streams through your body. You’re alive, alive, alive with the magic, with the power, with the possibility.

The Magic:

Stop and relax a moment. Where is the magic? Is the power building or waning? Can you feel it? Don’t try to force anything. Just feel the energy. Note where it is. Check it daily. Make yours’elf ready.

(An Alternate Interpretation)
Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long

Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long tells us that sooner or later the Law of Karma is fulfilled in its exacting fashion. Those that have stood against the light fall and the good prevails once again. Each receives hir (his/her) just and exact due as hir magic is fulfilled.
This is the time of struggle, however. Evil will not give up on its own volition. We must act against it with all our power bringing the weight of our Elven magic to bear, but a direct confrontation with evil is to be avoided if at all possible because we wind up entangled in conflict and destruction. We, and many innocent bystanders, are often harmed by this conflict. Direct confrontation, therefore, is a last resort. The best defense again evil is to make energetic progress toward the realization of our positive dreams and visions. By creating our eald, our bit of Faerie, in the world, by putting all our energy toward creating a better world, we undermine the power of the Wicked, which depends upon decay and dissatisfaction to gain its ends. It is parasitic by nature and
cannot endure on its own. Creating our own realm of Elfin is like turning on a light in a dark room.
By pursuing fairness and justice for all, we remove the sources of discontent upon which evil thrives and that it ever endeavors to create in order to bring imbalance to the world.
However, sometimes evil must be faced directly and so this is a card of choice. If you receive this card you must decide your best course in dealing with wickedness in this situation. Do you act toward the good, act against evil or wait for things to change on their own?

Something Magic This Way Comes and Wicked’s Had Its Way Too Long are paired, although, one follows the other. This indicates that after obtaining magical power and influence, one is then faced with a choice concerning what to do with that power. What will you do with the power you gain?

Visualization:

It has become clear to you that there are those who are deliberately seeking to enslave the world for their own profit and gratification. It is also evident to you, having the magical power that you do, that you have a responsibility to use your powers to remove these people from the positions of power from whence they carry out their wicked aims.
The question is: what’s the best way to do this? Should you use your powers to create good and ignore those others, trusting in time and karma to deal with them? Or do you think that the situation demands that you take measures to bind their evil and obstruct their path? Can you do both?

The Magic:
Hold a magic circle and do a binding. Resist wickedness in your own life and you will have the power to bind it on the nether planes.

The Right to Pursue One’s Own Path

One of the first challenges a newly awakened Elfae (combining the words elf and fae/faerie and meant to indicate all kindred of Elven/Faerie kind) encounters is the individual’s right to decide for hir (combining the pronouns his and her, and used when the individual may be either male or female) own s’elf, hir direction, path and course. There are myriads of religious groups and cults all demanding that the elf follow their (the religious group’s) beliefs or doctrines, and certainly nearly every elf comes from a background of religious, scientific, and/or ethnic culture. It is often difficult therefore to assert one’s sense of s’elf when confronted by those persons and forces that one has been trained since birth to honor as authorities.

Whether one has been raised Christian, Jewish, Atheist, or Agnostic or some other faith, deciding to follow one’s own path, particularly when one is young and inexperienced, can often be difficult. And unless one has come to despise, for whatever reasons, the teachings of one’s childhood and family, one often wants to cling to the past while moving forward into the future. And for the elves this is not a problem. We are not concerned by those who wish to be elves and Christian, however, in our experience some Christian sects would make this balance difficult for their part. Like Voudoun, we elves have no problem incorporating the teachings and images of Christianity or Buddhism, Judaism, or even Islam into our understanding of our world. (Note that in Virginia there is found a stone in the form of a cross that is called the Fairy Cross that is said to link Jesus and the Fairy Folk.) The Universe is One, and all that is in it is related to Faerie either directly or indirectly in the view of those with the Faerie Sight.

Jews and Hebrews often have a different experience. Many hold their religion easily in their hearts, but most will never give up their culture. At the same time the links between the Judaic and Hebraic peoples and the ancient Scythian lords from whom many of the elven have descended genetically, and upon whom the legends of faerie are in part based, are strong and linked by ancient marriage (see Laurence Gardner’s Realms of the Ring Lords). So, again, on the elven side certainly, and probably on the Judaic and Hebrew side as well, there is very little friction between our peoples; and we elves certainly have always been very well treated and nurtured by our Judaic/Hebraic kin. Although, moving toward the full embrace and the living of the elven path can be a challenge for some who were raised in that culture. It often offers worldly connections and success that we elves, as yet, cannot offer them. Plus, while the Judaic-Hebrew culture is despised by some, and has been often persecuted in the world, they are none-the-less acknowledged by the world, even by those who despise them, while our Elven culture is seen by most as a foolish fantasy at best.

Those raised Atheist and Agnostic have a different challenge and this challenge curiously confronts many modern religious types as well. This is the idea that elves as an existent people and culture, is unscientific. They have been taught that we don’t exist, are utterly the product of fantasy and have a difficult time accepting the reality of our existence. They are called to make a leap of faith into the unknown and this can be very difficult for folk raised in this fashion. If the reality of faerie isn’t proven, they find it difficult to believe in. This challenge is reinforced by the social scorn they will have to endure if they do make that leap.

However, most Elfae are awakened by others of our kind, and while some may have a difficulty with relinquishing their former culture, and some may have difficulty believing in ideas that they have been told all their lives are mere imagination and fantasy, those who have heard the call inwardly, and who have encountered one or more of our living kindred, fully manifesting in the world, have a hard time denying the truth of their heart and experience.

Alas, here there are also powerful influences that confront the budding Elfae. There are the ancient legends and the modern tales concerning our kind, and many of these are simply erroneous and while inspiring the Elfae’s heart, tend to confuse hir mind with often foolish and irrelevant aspects that may have been good for creating conflict and interest or dynamic tension in a story, but are inadequate and obstructive when the Elfae confronts hir real life in the world.

At the same time, if the elf who awakens hir is very powerful, or part of a group of very potent elven witches, it can be difficult for the newly awakened not to come completely under the sway of these more experienced elves. However, while these may be more experienced elves, and their magic may be more potent and powerful, it does not always mean they are more spiritually evolved or without aspects of their own soul and personality that need development. Every elf needs to reserve in hir own heart and mind the right to think for hirs’elf, and base hir judgments on hir own sense of inner guidance and direction. While we Elfae are all traveling toward Elfin/Faerie, we are not all of us journeying on the same exact paths. There are many paths to Faerie and many realms in Elfin.

It should be noted that it takes tremendous courage to stand against one’s heritage and upbringing, and in many ways even greater courage to assert one’s individual understanding of the path to those who awakened one. And we should remember, particularly at the beginning of this spiritual journey into the Realms of Elfin, not all Elfae are ready to venture on their own. Many need that guidance, and even if those who are providing it are not entirely evolved or perfected in their own elven souls, if they are not totally leading us astray like a bunch of errant pixies, their guidance may be of great help to us. Yet each Elfae should know that in the course of time, sHe (combining the pronouns she and he in instances where the individual may be either female or male) may hear the Call of Elfin drawing hir in another direction and if sHe is ready, should have no hesitation in pursuing it. Yet one is wise to keep in mind that in pursuing one’s own path into Elfin/Faerie that not everyone will be ready to follow that path, particularly if one is blazing new trails through the Mists, and it is unwise, as well as un-elven, to attempt to force anyone to do so. Each needs to be encouraged on hir own way, at the level she currently has achieved, and is currently comfortable pursuing.

And one should know as well that in treading the Path of the Elven that most folks at this time in the world, mostly probably including one’s oldest and closest friends, may be uncomfortable with this venture into the unknown. Your old friends like you as you are, and are often uncomfortable with you are making what seems to them to be radical changes in your life. One thus may wish to be cautious in revealing one’s elven nature to others. Most will simply ridicule the idea. Some, because of fundamentalist beliefs may be intimidated by the idea of magic and warn you against pursuing the ways of the Devil. And since the newly awakened often take on elf names many, if not most, of one’s friends, will feel uncomfortable using this new name. At the same time the Elfae naturally wishes the name to be used to reinforce hir own confidence in pursuing the Elven Way. Each must decide in hir own circumstances how much sHe is willing, and how much it is wise, to reveal and to whom.

Those who feel the Call and who have awakened are faced with another challenge, for they come to understand they are truly Special Beings; they are the Chosen, or actually those who have Chosen to pursue the Elven Way, and are in fact advanced souls and spirits relative to the mass of humanity at this point. They are truly elite beings, who have opened thems’elves and are dedicating thems’elves to developing their inner Soulfulness, and Spirit to become truly Cosmic Beings and to, in time, enter the Supra-Dimensional Realms where Faerie thrives in its fullness. The challenge here is how to know one is such a being without it enhancing the negative aspects of ego and leading thus to an increasing separation between the Elfae and those around hir who sHe is ultimately meant to help and guide. Thus each elf is called to remember that every being is a soulful being and each person contains the potential for greatness within hir, and is destined/designed to become hir own true s’elf in hir own time and way.

Although, the act of awakening and living one’s elven nature often leads to those around us rejecting us, the Elfae must ever be conscious of not rejecting them in turn. The more we advance in our elven nature, and on the Path of Elven, the more sacred will we consider the souls of those around us, even if they, as yet, are not aware that they even have such a soul. Being one of the Elite should not separate us from others in our hearts, but make us ever more aware of being One with them. This struggle, however, with our own ego is often a life long process and the challenge of loving and accepting those who reject us, while at the same time protecting ours’elves from them, is a magic that it often takes years, even lifetimes, to master. Fortunately, we live in Eternity and we have forever.

Of those who awaken, there tend to be two general types. First, and by far the greatest number, there are those who have heard the Call, but in fact have no idea of what to do about it. They sense that they are elven or other, but where to go from there, they know not. These tend to seek others who are already active and living their lives as elves, although it should be said that nearly all elves seek their kindred. We tend to be, for the most part, a very group oriented people. These are also the individuals who are most likely to cling to the religious and philosophical teachings of their past, and who often view Elfin from that perspective, that is to say they endeavor to merge their former religious ideas with their new sense of being Elven. There is nothing wrong with doing so, although this approach will only take one so far on one’s journey into Faerie. This group are also the ones most likely to need leaders, at least for a while. They hunger for guidance. They are open, but don’t know what to do with their openness, or whence to go. These are also those most likely to fall back into the world, fade from Elfin, or start pursuing a different, more popular fad. These, like many, perhaps most elves, hunger for love, connection and community and don’t really care if it is called Elven or whatever; they just want to be loved, get laid (a lot), and have friends. Yet, even those who fade often come back to us in time. If someone is truly Called by Elfin, sHe will eventually find hir way there.

The second group of individuals who awaken to the Call, tend to be more creatively active. They often give thems’elves elf names, write their own faery tales, gather others about them, or attempt to do so (it is often hard to draw elves to one, we are an independent lot), and begin creating their own elvish culture, magic, and the implements and accessories there of. They are often leaders, but in the sense of being pioneers rather than authorities, and thus they are also more comfortable being solitary elves, although, as we’ve said previously, few elves like being solitary. These are also the Elfae most likely to continue on this Path long after everyone else around them have faded from it, and these individuals are usually less attached to traditional philosophies and religious notions. They have found the old ways wanting, and seek the Way of the Ancient Future. (Note elves often speak of the ancient future evoking Ancient Ways that are as yet unfilled, and are the Vision of evolutionary development.) However, these need to be careful that they don’t merely substitute one dogma for another. The Paths to Elfin are many, and each has a right to find hir own way. Also, while the first type needs guidance and often fades if they don’t find a confident elven soul to help them, this second sort need appreciation for their works and creations and may wander off if they don’t get the recognition for which they hunger.

While we have written these as two distinct types for ease of understanding, and of which the second type tends to be more evolved in their elfin nature than the first. In reality, these types are often mixed, individuals having a bit of both aspects in them, having some need for guidance and yet expressing some creative outpouring in need of recognition. And while the second type tends, as we say, to be more advanced or developed in their elven nature, that does not necessarily mean they are perfected souls and have no challenges of fate or karma, nor a need for personal transformation. Even very Adept kindred have aspects of personality they are striving to develop. Although, again these more evolved ones tend to have a more independent approach to Elfin, and often seem like they are making it all up as they go along, which, for the most part, they are. Although, we could also say they are channeling Faerie, or remembering it, that is to say drawing down memories of Elfin from our Collective Elven Unconscious.

Yet in saying this, we do not mean that anything goes. We do not mean one can disregard the precepts that make the Path to Elfin possible. Not all elves need involve thems’elves in magic, for instance, yet there is something essentially magical about Faerie, Elfin and the Elfae, and if one seeks to create an Elven world without magic, they have gone far astray. So it is, also, with prejudice. There simply cannot be an elven world that prohibits gays, males, females, blacks or anyone for their religious background, their race, gender, ethnicity, sexual preference, or any other aspect of being that they don’t actually have any control over. We don’t even have prejudice against the violent, the fanatical or the greedy, all of whom have a place in Faerie, although it is a dark and unfriendly place where various Unseelie reside, and most of us Seelie Elves avoid. And while they may find a place in Faerie, they will never evolve to the deeper reaches of Elfin until they do, indeed, master their own s’elves. No one can prevent anyone from entering the deeper regions of Faerie/Elfin, except the individual hir own s’elf by hir own behavior. No one has a right to say who is or isn’t an elf, except the individual speaking for hir own s’elf, and yet certain behaviors will certainly keep one from finding those who could help one farther on the Path. We each must look into our own souls, examine our own personalities, and do what we feel best to develop ours’elves as spiritual beings.

This ultimately is a quest for the realization of our true S’elf, and we are called to rid ours’elves of every aspect of being, every behavior, every false notion about ours’elves and others that obstructs that realization. Therefore, while the Path of the Elfin seems to be but a fantasy to most folks, it is based upon a quest for truth about ours’elves, our true natures, and the true nature of the Universe. One needs only restrict ones’elf in so far as it is productive to the development of one’s elven nature. All other restrictions are unnecessary and useless. We try to not judge others by the standards we have set for ours’elves, but by their consistency in living by the standards they have declared to be their own.

It is a paradox of the Elven Path that we must each find our own way, yet in the long run we can only do that together. Thus we seek to help each at the level sHe is at the moment. We do not expect, or demand, more than each is capable of giving or doing, but aid each as best we may, and as best we understand hir path. Curiously, by doing this we are both serving the individual and serving ours’elves. At the same time, one of the greatest things we can do for our Elfae kin is be our own true s’elves, thus we serve as an example to them, and therefore encourage them by this example, as well as actively seeking to empower them to do the same.

As yet, that is at the time of this writing, there are no great charismatic leaders in Elven Culture. Part of that is due to the fact that elves, by our nature tend to challenge authority and have an underlying streak of rebelliousness in our souls. “Question Authority” is not a motto for us, but a lifestyle. Although, it may more accurately be stated, “Question everything.” And we do, sometimes to our own determent. Part of this lack of charismatic leadership is due to the fact that we are simply too much of a fringe society to have anyone charismatic bother trying to organize us, and as we say, we are somewhat loath to be organized. Like our Goth-Emo Pixie cousins, we are unlikely to ever become a part of mainstream society. Yet, in the ages to come, it is likely that such figures will emerge and an elf will only be safe in following such a being’s lead in so much as these “leaders” encourage independent thought and action based upon the individual elf’s sense of what is right for hirs’elf and hir others. Those who create stringent dogmas are not of us, have never been, and will never be so, until they evolve and become the inspiration for independent realization they are destined to be.

Enjoy!

One of our most recent books is “The Elven Way” and we wanted to share with you the following excerpt from Chapter 1 on “Awakening”.

Kyela,

The Awakening

“Most elfin and otherkin brought up in the world of Man experience what is often called the Awakening. Usually this involves the realization that one is elven, faerie or other, or a variety of other, a mixture of elf and pixie, for instance. Most elves go through life feeling different from those around them and alienated from the normal culture anyway. However, though they feel different from most common folk they often have no idea what they truly are, they just know that they are different until this realization, this awakening, or acceptance comes. We often feel we are not quite human or if human certainly not normal. Normal folk, of course, are eager to remind us of this fact and while at first we often find this reminder of our difference and their lack of acceptance painful, in time we come to embrace their rejection, wearing it as a badge of honor. When we see how they are, how they think, or in most cases, fail to think, we are glad we are not them, although being different has its dangers for they subtly, and too often not so subtly, despise all that is different from them, all who do not eagerly conform.”

“But this realization, this awakening is not always one of understanding one is an elf or other. Sometimes, this realization is, in fact, an awakening to the realization that we can in truth be who or whatever we choose to be; that our life and destiny is not shaped by our fate or our genetic history; that we are, indeed, free to be our own s’elves however we choose to define it. This realization stems in part from the understanding that there is a spiritual dimension to our being, that the material world, our ethnic and social history and our genetic lineage do not or need not, entirely define us. We are spirits/souls being born into material bodies and ultimately it is not our body that says who we are, but our spirits. We are elves not because our bodies are descended from elves, although we may well be descended from those tribes, such as the Scythians, the Pict-Sidhe or the Tuatha Da Danaan, upon which the tales of elves are mostly based; but because we choose to be elves; although, it is a basic truth that we choose to be elves because we are elves. In the long run of evolution, we all choose to be who are truly are. We cannot help but do so. We may try to escape our true natures, as so many “normal” folk attempt to do, but in the course of eternity that is a futile quest. We cannot escape our true s’elves.”

“Nearly every religion attests to the fact that there is a spiritual dimension that exists within, alongside of, and beyond the material world, and yet trapped in this world as we are, where physical pleasure and pain are very real to us, it is sometimes hard to remember this fact, or do more than pay lip service to this idea. But the haunting reality of Death, plus the endless question of where we were before we were conceived, gives pause to the thoughtful about our true condition and the real nature of the Universe.”

“While some elves and otherkin, in reaction to the scorn they’ve experienced and suffered in life, often feel they are superior to normal folk, it is important to realize that the underlying spiritual nature of the Universe and the process of evolutionary development applies to all things, all beings in the universe from mineral life, to flora, to animal life, to humanity, to the spirits beyond, from the atom to the constellations, all are in the process of Becoming.”

“The Sages point out to us that life on Earth and the pleasures, and pains, of this life are transitory. They are an illusion, not because they don’t occur but because they don’t last. There is within us a hunger for the Eternal, for happiness and pleasure that endures, for love that never fades and is ever true, and for understanding that surpasses all illusion. Life on Earth, being transitory is just another dream that seems so real when we are in the midst of it but which fades, even seems to be forgotten, once it has passed away; although, nothing is ever truly forgotten. We may not remember mentally but our experience is imprinted on our souls forever in the form of the Akashic Record.”

“Some writers thus picture elves as being immortal beings who never change, but this is not the case. Rather, as spirits we become ever more masterful in both creating and experiencing a changing environment. We don’t become perfect and then stay the same, but rather are in a continual state of perfecting and improving ours’elves. We do not become, like Anne Rice’s vampires, living statues but rather we evolve into increasingly ephemeral beings of light living in worlds of our own creation. We do not kill to live or live to kill but live to love and love to live. The death dealers will get exactly the world they’ve created and so shall we, which is to say that in time death as we know it will die.”

“Caught up in the world that is, lured by transitory pleasures, or trapped by pain, it is sometimes hard to turn one’s mind to the Eternal and even when one realizes our Eternal nature mentally as an idea or concept, it is often difficult to remember it when swept up in the great flood of worldly experience. One must reach beyond the mind, whose function is to question and doubt, and arrive at the heart, and secure there our faith and cling to it. Yet, should one fail in this, and most of us do indeed for lifetimes uncounted fail in this, we need not despair. The true nature of life is evolution whether we remember it or not, whether we have faith or not, its nature remains unchanged and that unchanging nature is one of ever becoming.”

“What is important to remember is that we shape our lives in all we do. This is our nature; it is our magic; it is our karma. When we act with the Eternal in our minds and hearts, when we come to understand ours’elves as beings who exist in various forms through the ages, we begin to participate in the Life Eternal that is our true state of being and our destiny.”

“Although our actions shape our lives, ours is not a random Universe. Nor are we the only powers in it. There are laws that govern the Universe and these laws arise naturally out of the Nature of the Universe. They are not arbitrary rules created by some outside power, god, or force but are inherent in the nature of things. One might wonder then do we have any power to shape our lives at all and the answer is quite clearly yes, although at this point for most beings it is a quite limited power. The world we live in is formed by the magics we have created in our past, our karma, which also create our thoughts and philosophies and in this way inform our actions, but it is also created by the magics others have done with whom we’ve interacted, either positively or negatively, in love or hate, or both, in cooperation or conflict. It is these interwoven spells that have bound us to this world.”

“We come to understand in time that in order to succeed in the world, to succeed as spirits, we must follow certain percepts, rules, or laws of magic. Again, these are not arbitrary rules but absolutely essential to the evolution of our spirits and our souls. They are the Way we evolve and succeed, become who we truly wish to be, which is to say who we truly are and live as Immortal Spirits in the Eternal Dimensions. We call them therefore the Elven Way.

Some will say that this Way involves the apprehension of what is Good and what is Evil and pursuing the One, or the Other; and that is true in a sense. However, it is probably more accurate to say that this Way delineates what actually works to uplift, liberate and free us from the limitations and confines of this world, what empowers us, as opposed to those things that keep us entangled and bound. Still, to our minds what liberates us and empowers us is good and what binds us and enslaves us is evil, so the difference, while accurate, is subtle.”

“It may be defined very easily by stating this simple formula: We are free to pursue our own magical creative course as long as we do not obstruct and interfere with others who are doing the same. Clearly, we have the right to defend ours’elves and thus prevent others from interfering with our way, if our way is true, and to prevent them from obstructing others.

We may add to this the fact that in helping others to pursue their true goals, that is find their own true path, we are also de facto aiding our own course. Since we live in an interconnected world, cooperation whenever and wherever possible is always advised and of great benefit to us all. It may also be noted that since we find ours’elves in a world where our magic is limited, mainly by our karma, cooperative action increases the power of our magic. What we cannot accomplish alone we can achieve together.”

Finding our way home

October 16, 2009

It has never been the policy of these elves…
Dear kin,
… to say who is or isn’t an elf. We do not have the authority to say so, nor does anyone else. We may have our opinions on the subject and if asked, render them, but it is always up to the individual to discover and declare hir (his/her) particular nature.
So, too, it is the right, and some might say duty, although we wouldn’t go that far, of each individual elf to decide hir own spiritual path and beliefs. We certainly have our own beliefs, which are, we believe, rather unique and each elf must, should, or perhaps we should say, is encouraged to decide for hir own s’elf the spiritual path/s SHe (she/he) will tread and the extent of, and depth of Hir, beliefs.
Many elves base their beliefs loosely upon Tolkien’s mythology, which is not wholly different from the Catholicism that constituted his own spiritual practice. And while these elves are not ours’elves Christian, nor any of the other major or really minor religious beliefs, we respect the right of those elves who do follow Christianity or Islam or Buddhist beliefs or any other philosophy they choose.
However, and here’s the rub, dearest, there are certain beliefs that simply don’t accord with Elfin and if one follows those practices SHe will in time stray farther and farther from Faerie. Perhaps this can best be illustrated with Christianity as an analogy. Anyone can say SHe is a Christian, in fact, millions do. But saying one is a Christian is not the same as following the path that Jesus outlined for those who would follow his way.
In just this same way, anyone can say they are an elf, and these elves will not deny them the right to do so, however, if one practices hate and prejudice, if they promote bias against any particular group because of their sexual preference, or gender, or race, creed, national origin, fashion style, or because they swing to a different sort of music, then they are promoting ignorance, and ignorance, is to be found in the opposite direction from Faerie/Elfin. The more one embraces prejudice, the farther one strays from Elfin and from one’s true elfin nature.
And so it is that we elves also believe in, promote, and practice personal liberty. The Wiccan Rede: And that it harm none, do what thou wilt, works well with us. This is also, according the Max Freedom Long, the basic principle of morality of the ancient Kahuna sorcerers. We elves say, “We are all returning to Elfin from a different direction and the path that is right for you, may be the wrong way for another.” Each must be allowed to follow hir own path. So those who insist that their way is the only “right” way and who seek to force their beliefs upon others and compel others to live as they do, are not following the Elfin Way. This is not to say that they are not elves, for no one has a right to say that but the individual hirs’elf, but they are truly losing their way and, in time, in danger of losing contact with Elfin, which is to say their own creative soul, altogether.
Now, one can say they are a Christian in this world and still promote hate and prejudice and war, thus not truly be a follower of the Way of Jesus Christ at all, with little or no consequences, save some very bad karma for having helped spread slime about the world, but to promote hate and prejudice and practice evil magics (trying to control others in opposition to their will and their creative well being) can have very swift and not so pleasant results.
Faerie/Elfin is a magical realm and thoughts, feelings and actions are more potent, profound and powerful when one gets near it or invokes its name. To use Faerie magic for ill deeds quickly brings ill upon ones’elf. This is not our wish for them, mind you. We wish them healing, but we cannot protect them from the hate they have invoked, nor the dark spells they have cast, nor the demons they’ve sent forth, who will come looking for them very shortly. Even if we had the power to thus protect them, we do not have the right to interfere with their magic. But they should know that whenever the time comes when they are done suffering, that is, when they are done trying to create suffering in the world; whenever they are through with feeling out of control, that is trying to control others; we shall be awaiting them on the path to Elfin and if they can calm their anguished hearts for a moment, they will hear our song, calling them ever home.

Faerie at First Sight

September 25, 2009

A sister wrote us asking how it was that we seemed to equate Faerie with Love while Tolkien wrote that Faerie was the Perilous Realm, which contained not only the good but also the dark, and could be quite dangerous. Here is our reply to that question:

Going to Faerie from this world…
Dear sister,
… is like moving from a small town to New York, Los Angeles, Mexico City, London or Tokyo… the opportunities are greater surely, but so are the dangers (not that there are no dangers in this world or small towns or even backwoods). We did not say that Faerie was love, we were instead using Love as an analogy to point out that one can no more force their way into Faerie than they can force someone to love them, or even truly force ones’elf to love someone else. Not even elves can do that (and we surely wouldn’t try), although we do have magics that can grease the wheels, so to speak. And while it is also true that there are magics that can cause profound infatuation, the admonition to be careful of what wishes for is best considered when using these spells.
Faerie is closer to the source, the formative Magic, the underlying reality of pure potentiality that is within and beneath, so to speak, all things. Although, perhaps it would be more accurate to say it is along side of. But that is not quite it either. Faerie/Elfin is not exactly elsewhere. In his novel the Quest of the Golden Stairs, Waite wrote, “Faerie is not there but here”. For Faerie/Elfin is not so much another place but another vibration of this world. Think of it as one would think of Ultra Violet or Infra Red, a spectrum of being that exists here and now but is not readily observable by most folks. It is like the Moon ruled sephiroth on the Tree of Life. It is the formative world (thus both more magical and more responsive to our desires) upon which this world is based. Are we really ready to have our desires instantly or very quickly come into being. How about our fears? Can you see the danger here? Are our dreams less perilous than this world? Only because we can escape them, we expect. But what if we could not? Perhaps some of us are in this world to escape from the dangers of Faerie. Biding our time and strengthening our souls, spirits and magic until we feel ours’elves truly ready to go back and confront the dangers there, learning to control our minds and impulses so we do not unthinkingly bring about results we do not truly or completely desire.
Yet, perhaps Faerie is Love. Is Love not perilous? Do we not risk nearly everything in truly loving? Our hearts, our minds, sometimes and for some people their very lives? Even their souls? Mayhaps we should speak of: Faerie at first sight? There is truth there, don’t you think? A greater truth than most realize.

Elves and Brownies * A letter to Keith Olberman

September 15, 2009

We wanted to tell you…
Dear Keith or, if you prefer it, Mr. Olberman,
… how much we enjoy your show, which we watch regularly. You speak the truth with wit and humor and you are often the highlight of our day. We particularly love the diatribes you call special comments and often find ours’elves clapping and cheering at the end of your statements.
The other day however, you made a special commentary about Congressman Wilson’s rude interruption, which we also thought despicable, of the President’s speech. However, in your comment you, if we remember correctly, warned the Republicans that they were fast becoming in danger of joining the ranks of those loonies who believe in elves and brownies, and to this, Sir, we take exception. We are those loonies.
We not only believe in elves and brownies, pixies and faeries, but we believe we are the genetic descendants of those tribes of peoples upon whom those legends and myths are based. Like the American Indians, our peoples were overwhelmed long ages ago, and as the Native Americans are now, we were, mythologized, so much so that now the mass of people, who have never bothered to peruse the historical data (a good place to start would be Laurence Gardner’s non-fiction book the Realm of the Ring Lords) believe we never existed at all and are merely a product of myth and legend.
May we point out to you that our beliefs, as loony as they may seem to you, are supported by a great deal more historical fact than the vast majority of humanity use to justify their belief, upon no evidence at all, in their various Gods and Religions.
However, let us make ours’elves clear, we do not object to the fact that, without examining the evidence at all, you think us among the crazies. Such opinions and casual unthinking prejudice we have endured all our lives and take for granted. What we object to is the fact that you, first: think that we are less sane than the Republicans, and second: that you would lump us in with them.
We will cede to you the point that we might be crazy for our particular, and perhaps peculiar, beliefs; but, please understand that we are a whole different variety of crazy than the Republicans. In what way different? Well, IQ for a start, but more than that we are the sort of eccentric crazy that was portrayed as the family in Kaufman’s and Hart’s play and movie, You Can’t Take It With You (you may wish to check out Eccentrics: A Study of Sanity and Strangeness by David Weeks and Jamie). While you may not agree with our opinions, we do have a basic grasp of Logic and Reason, which the Republicans, either do not, or have abandoned in their greed for power. Furthermore, we are a variety of amiable crazy, whereas the Republicans are a kind of potentially violent sort of crazy that may kill you if you don’t agree with them and ultimately desire to use force to compel everyone to act, think and behave as they do. On the other hand, we don’t care if you agree with us, just don’t lump us in with those vicious liars whose ancestors were responsible for destroying our culture in the first place and who are actively seeking each day to destroy the essence of this democracy.
Please understand, however, we are still your faithful viewers and we still trust you to speak the truth regularly and with humor, and most of all to tear the Republicans a “New One” periodically, although, we fear that since there is hardly anyone left in their party but “New Ones” that your task is somewhat redundant. Still, how could we ever tire of laughing?

Thanks for you courage in speaking the truth,
The Silver Elves

Finding our own magic

September 11, 2009

In Blavatsky’s Isis Unveiled, vol. 2…
Dearest Beloved,
… she presents us with massive evidence that nearly all the major religions, that is Christian, Judeo-Hebraic, Moslem, Egyptian, Caldean, etc. originated from the Hindu and Pre-Buddhic practices and texts of ancient India. On the other hand, if you read Max Freedom Long’s books on Polynesian magic and the Huna (secret) practices of the Kahunas of Hawaii, he informs us that their magic is, as far as he can tell, in its purist form, pre-religious and that they, the Polynesians, originated from India and islands near there and left as the Aryan and other invaders, the originators of religion, arrived.
(Just an aside here, but we used to know a French magician named Roland who would write us and send us these wonderful posters he created about magic (all written in French, of course), when we were part of the Elf Queen’s Daughters. He came to visit us one time for about a week when we lived in Southern Illinois where we called ours’elves the Elves of the Southern Woodlands, and we found it interesting that he pronounced Isis, not Ice –ees, but Is Is. Contemplate that a moment!
But this isn’t primarily about Blavatsky’s theory that all religion stems from India, nor Long’s that we can find magic in its purest form from studying the Kahunas, though we for our part have neither reason nor facts to question their theories. This is about how we elves, who have been so far and long divorced from our culture in so many ways, and raised quite often, though not always and not entirely, among the normal folk, come to understand what is Elfin/Faerie magic and how it may differ, if it does, from various other magics that are in use today and in the past.
Surely we can glean some things, as we ever tend to do, some hints, from good fiction about we elfin folk and our magics. And surely, at its heart all magic stems from the same source, which is to say The Magic, the infinite potentiality that is, was and ever will be, from which all things are created. Religions anthropomorphize this energy into Gods and Goddess but all such Deities, to the elfin mind, are mere demi-gods, individualize interpretations of the truth that is both universal and undifferentiated.
We can certainly, and these elves do, study the various books and systems of magic that are available in metaphysical bookstore and even on the internet. Taught among the Elf Queen’s Daughters (who also taught us elfin witchcraft, sorcery and enchantment among other things) to use the I Ching, these elves consult this oracle every day and have been doing so since 1975. We also study books and have explored the use of various forms of magic, including Taoist, Celtic, Western Ceremonial, Tibetan and others, picking eclectically from each according to what works and what appeals to our hearts and souls.
Naturally, we have explored many, but not all, the books about faerie magic. Alas, most of these seem to be for witches and others who wish to use the faeries to help them with their magics. There is nothing wrong with that, if done rightly, but, except for our own books (which you can check out at ) we’ve encountered no books that view elfin magic from the inside, that is, how we elves do our magics, which is why, in part, that we have created our own books, many of them elfin versions of other systems that we have known, used and loved.
Which brings us back to Long. For we could do far worse than study the most original forms of shamanic practice, which Fraser, in the Introduction to the Golden Bough, hypothesizes was the source prior to, and in a sense, inspirational for both religion and science. If we are indeed in some senses the Elder Race then we must look back to the earliest manifestation of civilization and magic and these are to be found among the Kahunas of Hawaii, the aboriginal shamans of Australia, the indigenous shamans of Siberia (from whom the name shaman originates) and the Amazon and others, filtering what we learn through our own hearts, déjà vu like memories (telpareon – the far memory of the elves) and our own experiences.
Of course, these elves count ours’elves lucky. We were trained in magic by other elves and it is true that there is a vibrational transference of energy (similar perhaps to that described between a guru and his student in yogic lore) that is shared among the elfin that cannot be learned from books or received from others. But this is not something we do intentionally, exactly, but something that just happens among us when the time is right. Perhaps indeed, or really, without question, the best way to learn elfin magic is to be with other elves, but in the meantime, we can each of us glean what we can from other systems all of which ultimately had their source (diluted though they are) among the elfin.

Eli feln le (we love you),
The Silver Elves
