“. . . . all of us who wish to be Elven, no matter what
our genetic lineage, are truly Elven as spirits
and as we lead our lives as elves we become
ever more Elven through the process of shedding
the thought-forms of the more normal cultures around us.”
In most folks’ minds, one is either an elf or fae or not. One is born that way, descended from the Ancient Scythian or other fae folk and that is that. That is certainly the way Nicholas De Vere viewed things in his book The Dragon Legacy. However, that is not the way these elves look at things and even De Vere acknowledged that those who had at least some elven blood, which according to him was a great deal of humanity, weren’t necessarily an elf unless theirs was particularly pure elven blood. And again, we disagree not only because this rather racist and snobbish point of view offends our elven sensibilities but mostly because it is not necessarily true.
We elfae folk are magicians, enchanters, sorcerers, shamans, wizards, witches and magic wielders of various sorts and we are elves because we wish to be elves. We live our lives as elves and thus our magic makes us so. Ours, as we said many times, is a more magical and energetic view of elfin being rather than a materialistic oriented point of view, but then we are evolving toward more spiritual, by which we mean spirited and energetic, lives.
And it is also the case that those who have supposedly pure elven blood may not live the elven life at all or follow The Elven Way, while others who seemingly have no elven blood genetically are very attracted to being elves and strive to live their lives as the elves they instinctively feel thems’elves to be. While those who consider thems’elves to be ‘pure’ elves may say ‘tough luck’ you are not one of us, we Silver Elves say, the more the merrier.
This is due in part because we know that being elves we have somewhat mastered the art of being born into whatever bodies or families or genetic line that is convenient for a particular incarnation. We modern incarnated elves are not usually interested in being born into our ancient elven bloodline as we are in picking those bodies and circumstances that will help us develop as spirits and assist us to evolve.
Still, there is a soulful memory that is the memory of our spirit within our being that draws us to the Elven Lifestyle. So if you ask us, can someone become an elf? We say, we are all becoming elves. Or really all of us who wish to be elven, no matter what our genetic lineage, are truly elven as spirits and as we lead our lives as elves we become ever more elven through the process of shedding the thought-forms of the more normal cultures around us.
One might wonder then, why would we do such a thing. Why be born in other bodies from other genetic lines at all? And the answer is essentially twofold. One of which is that having been persecuted and oppressed as elves and fae, we found there were less and less elven bodies to be born into and so we decided to be born as the children of our oppressors so we could transform their genetic line, as well as torture them a bit in revenge when we were teenagers and love them to death when we are children and when we, and they, get older.
But the other aspect is that, indeed, studies in the field of epigenetics show us that the deoxyribonucleic acid/DNA and the genetic code in our bodies can be altered by our behaviors and so we alter a genetic line to make them more like us, influencing their culture and their genes. It is true that frequently they see us, even when we are born among them, as the ‘black sheep’ of their families. But still, you’ve got to start somewhere.
