Do Elves Believe True Love Exists?

May 1, 2020

“. . . beloved elfin kin, love truly for as long as your love lasts, as long as you are together, or apart, love truly, which is to say s’elflessly, seeking ever the best for the other, and you will find that loving truly is the key to true love.”

      “Elfin sings upon the dawn
and dances through the whole day long
until the night doth gently rise
with starlight cast upon our eyes,
and love abounds and circles ’bout,
and we greet the moon with howling shout.”
—The Silver Elves

Note from the elves! We know that many of you are not able to attend your usual May Day/Beltane/Lei Day celebrations this year due to the need for social distancing, so we have left you below some magical spells to use in your enchantment magic to attract your elfin kindred and to weave the magic of love in your lives for when we can gather together again in celebration (see these spells below in the section about Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic: Using Art-Making for Evoking Elfin Magic and Living the Elven Way). And in the meantime, we invite you, dear Kindred, to come join our “Magical Books of the Silver Elves” Facebook group, where we may virtually connect and celebrate together. We hope you enjoy the article below and we wish you many Elven Blessings!

Leiday

As it happens, we are writing this on the Eve of May Day/Beltane (and here in Hawaii it is Lei Day or the celebration of Aloha Spirit and the giving of flowers), which is a bit of a coincidence and for us a synchronicity, which is to say a coincidence that has psychological import and meaning to us. About thirty five years ago, after knowing each other for nearly a decade but being for much of that time separated by time, space and circumstance, we, Zardoa and Silver Flame, were able to get together and have been together, quite delightfully ever since. A short time after we were reunited, we attended a Pagan gathering on Beltane that was organized by the Church of All Worlds and our friends Oberon Zell Ravenheart and Morninglory in conjunction with Forever Forests and our friend Anodea Judith.

Originally, we had been invited by Anodea and it had been conceived as a free gathering. Somehow in the intervening months between that original invitation and the actual event it had become a pay to attend gathering but we had not been informed and arrived with our crew, which at that time consisted of about a half dozen elf folk and elf friends, not realizing this was the case and thus not having brought the wherewithal to pay for entry. Fortunately, after Zardoa had a quiet word with Oberon, and due much to the kindness of Oberon’s spirit, we were allowed to attend anyway, with a promise to help as best we could with the event. So, Beltane has always been a significant day for us, a sort of anniversary, you might say, of our union and our coming together on a permanent basis, even though we don’t usually celebrate various pagan holidays unless, of course, we’re around our pagan elven kindred. And then we will celebrate whatever they are celebrating.

And so, does true love exist? Certainly. It can be seen most easily in a parent’s love for their child. Not that all parents love their children, or that all parents even know how to love their children, or love anyone else for that matter for if you can’t love your child it is unlikely you are capable of loving anyone. But if you are looking for true, lasting and abiding love, love where a person will willingly lay down their life for the other, and will otherwise willingly and even eagerly spend their entire life devoted to doing all that they can to help and promote the well-being of that other, then seeing a parent’s love for their child is an easy way to see true love.

Of course, when most people are asking about true love and whether it exists or not, they really mean romantic love. That question is not whether families can love each other, often despite everything, but can two strangers that come together really and truly love each other? Can you truly love each other if you are not genetically related is the essence of the question, if you started out as strangers? And the answer is, according to the elves, well, yes, it does exist. In fact, such love is actually quite common and easy to observe. There are many people, usually young but not always so who are in love, who fall in love and truly love each other. Surely, a certain amount of infatuation and especially among the younger folk a certain or great amount of lust is involved but none-the-less their love is real.

It is true that there are those who get together that have ulterior motives, who unite with another and fane love because of a desire for advancement in their career, financial situation or have some other motive, but there are many who are just plain in love with each other, who have become enchanted by each other, cast a spell on each other at the same time and truly love each other.

But, there is another aspect to this question, which is that usually when someone speaks of true love and wants to know if it is real, that individual also really is asking, can it last? They are not really inquiring about does true love exist, but can true love endure? And, yes, it can. Or perhaps we should say, yes, we can make it last. And by make, we mean magic. Can we magic it to last?

It is true that love can be fleeting. People who seem deeply in love at one point often wind up seeming to hate each other later. Their love, we are told, has flown away. But the fact that their love didn’t last, doesn’t mean it didn’t exist. True love does exist, but getting it to last does seem to take a bit of effort over time due to numerous factors. The various pressures of the world are usually the most potent among these. Little envious demons hating that you love each other, throwing obstacles in the way of things are one factor, but another is just the fact that life on the material plane can be difficult at times. We’re wading through matter here. It’s thick and slow and makes everything more difficult. We’re not living on the Moon — unless we’re in love — we’re on the Earth and gravity can really suck here at times.

Still, to the elves, true love is real even if it doesn’t endure. And yet, it can endure, it can last. It may transform, certainly, just as we ours’Elves change in time. It may and, hopefully, will mature. The nature of the passionate bond may mature as well. For if true love exists, and lasts then it will also age, as we do or along with us. It gains a certain patina with age, however, making it even more beautiful.

So, beloved elfin kin, love truly for as long as your love lasts, as long as you are together, or apart, love truly, which is to say s’elflessly, seeking ever the best for the other, and you will find that loving truly is the key to true love.

by The Silver Elves

WHAT AN ELF WOULD DO: A Magical Guide to the Manners and Etiquette of the Faerie Folk by The Silver Elves is a wry, sly, often tongue in cheek view of how elves see and interact with the world of the Normal folk as well as with Otherkind of all sorts. It is designed to help the elfin everywhere to move through the often mysterious cultures of mankind with confidence and ease.

Gaea de las Aguas writes on Amazon in her review of What An Elf Would Do: “Think of this as “Ms. Manners” for the Otherkin set. Ever wondered how to handle yourself with grace and style whilst traversing the mundane realms? Let this tome be your guide! Lessons on how to present oneself as a skilled and artful Noble are here in abundance. Insight into human behavior patterns and tips on how to deal with difficult personality quirks are found on just about every page. Delivered with a lovely sense of humour (I’ve laughed out loud many times), the Silver Elves bring us a reference guide to assist with polishing our manners and bringing etiquette back to our daily lives.”

We further have chapters in this book on making elfin dream pillows, fairy dust and pixie powder, elven magical boxes or reliquaries, elven Mbuti, paintings, illuminated circles, magic soul cards, tarot decks, pan pipes, fantasy maps and even some of our favorite elven group-art games like elven notan and Elven Chess. “If you ask the elves what the greatest magical power is, they will tell you healing, for healing sets everything aright. And if you ask them what healing consists of, they will tell true love, for true love heals all things. And if you ask them what the source of true love is, they will tell you it is the Divine Magic, for the Divine Magic loves all things and eternally seeks their happiness and fulfillment.”

4.)
Creating Miracles In the Modern World: The Way Of the Elfin Thaumaturge
Creating_miraclesBookcoverThis is a book of Elfin Thaumaturgy, of miracle working and wonder creation, although for these elves we much prefer the idea of wonder working and creation to the idea of miracles. We love wonders. We love creating them; we love encountering them. This simple tome will explore the means by which we may do so.

“Wondrous is Faerie
Radiant and fair
But most wondrous of all
Is the love we elven share.”

—The Silver Elves

“Every time you step out the door, you may be risking your life. All the time you remain within, you could be risking your mind. Every time you fall in love, you might be endangering your heart. Every time you refuse to love, you could be depriving your soul. Yet, go or stay, love or not, Life is Eternal, and Elfin ever awaits us.”

In these two books we explore the Elven viewpoint concerning magick and the tools of magic with magical ceremonies that may be adapted for use by modern faerie folk. The information on The Ten Stages, or Colors of Elven Ritual Magic below is taken from the The Book of Elven Magick: Vols 1 and 2, by The Silver Elves. We would like to thank Ileådryn, Sara Isayama, for her beautiful graphic design.

MagicStagesSilverElves

We Silver Elves created this Color Magic system as something fluid and individual. You start with what Color Magic you feel you are drawn to. If you don’t have a preference and are a person who likes things set in order, then start with One. If you are a person who likes to go more by your feelings, then choose first the one you are attracted to and feel you meed in your life. It is said that if you like to look at this in terms of order, one might think of the color sequence above as being akin to something like Maslow’s Heirarchy of Needs, only applied to magic and ritual. For instance, it’s hard to do Healing Green Magic, if one is under psychic attack and therefore one must first defend oneself and place barriers and be in a secure, safe place b

efore one can do any healing. That is why, for example, Black Magic or Protection Magic is placed before Healing Green Magic. Also, “Health” is a perhaps the greatest wealth, which is why Healing Magic comes before Orange Magic for wealth generation, and so forth.

But remember that we often are working on more than one color magic at a time in our lives just as we have more than one need at a time that needs fulfilling. So while you certainly may go in an order 1 to 10, what you need is truly your decision and you may need to do more than one at a time. We don’t actually have charts or graphs in our books, most likely because the Elven Way is so fluid. To read more on elven color magic and ritual see:  The Book of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves, volume 1 and also The Book of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves, Volume 2

What are our Elven Instincts and How do we use them in our Elfin Magic?

March 7, 2020

silverflame_2020

“. . . . we elven do not ignore our feelings, and instead seek to understand the difference in our emotions and instinctive feelings. In doing this, we embrace the instinctive feelings related to our true inner Nature (our “Elven Instincts”) and are then able to direct them toward the fulfillment of our dreams. And all that we desire and have missed comes to us at the right time following the radiant silver threads of our inner Nature.”

tiny_green_7star

How do Elves Deal with our Emotions?

First of all, we elves are not usually portrayed as particularly emotional people. We are most often seen to manifest the saying, ‘Still waters run deep.’ Most often, we are rather calm and serene with an icing of joy upon it. At the same time, we are not noted for being repressed individuals either. We are not hiding our emotions for the most part, we are not repressing them or suppressing them, although we have spent a bit of time, through the years, sublimating them.

The difference in these activities is that those who repress their emotions often don’t even know or acknowledge the intense feelings that they are having. It all gets stuffed down into the unconscious and under pressure can explode outwardly and often unexpectedly into the world and quite frequently with terrible results. Repressed emotions are like a volcano that exists beneath the surface but no one realizes it is there until it forces its way to the surface.

Suppression generally involves a more conscious effort to hold one’s emotions in check. In that sense, it is a superior psychological strategy to repression but still holds the possibility of just bursting out when one is under pressure. It’s more like a volcano you know exists, but it’s still there and quiet most of the time. You just don’t know when it might erupt and then cause havoc.

Sublimation involves the transference of emotional energy, such as anger, into something more productive. One of the simplest examples is of those individuals who count to ten to calm thems’elves down. Some folks clean their house, others work out or play sports, we elves usually make magic. This, of course, does not take the place of truly dealing with our emotions. But if we can use our emotions to drive our magic in a positive way like wishing for what we truly need, then we may be at least making some movement toward a more healing environment or even toward contact with kindred that will help us. While doing magic to deal with our emotions may in some way be a distraction from feeling into our suffering, it can be a very important positive step.

What are our Elven Instincts?

It is important not to run from our emptiness and aloneness as individuals. Denying our deepest feelings, that part of us connected to our soulful being, and pretending we don’t feel something is surely not natural and thus not really in accordance with the way elves tend to do things. Ours is the natural way, only not Nature running amok but Nature tended into a beautiful elfin garden. We are not only natural beings but supernatural beings. Nature perfecting itself.

The elven spirit is oriented toward becoming as natural and evolved as possible in whatever form we take (in whatever dimension we inhabit). We elves, therefore, are oriented to accept our deepest inner Nature in the human form we have presently incarnated in and so have a propensity toward an awareness of our instinctual feelings and the goal of obtaining consciousness of body-mind unity. In that way, we are evolved in our consciousness from perhaps the majority of humans on Earth at this time. We could even say we are “Super Humans” or evolved Humans, not just human in form but ‘humane’ in consciousness and action. This does not mean that normal humans cannot evolve or that there are not already evolved Humans, as there surely are many and many more to come in the ancient future. Many elves feel we are incarnated in human bodies to help humans learn to accept who they truly are, to be in touch with their individual inner Nature and to evolve benevolently as a species. That is surely part of what drives us to incarnate among them. Our own development is another yet connected element in this.

So, you may ask, what is this inner Nature that is connected and felt within our instinctive feelings, that cannot be changed by our thoughts and the conditioning of society? What is this inner Nature that the elven spirit is drawn to follow? This is most easily understood by the distinction between emotions and instinctive feelings. Emotions are most often mind based, which is to say they are a strong feeling energy aroused by some idea or notion (often a negative idea about our own inner being), quite often by an idea that has no truth, validity or actual connection to reality. These emotions are the feelings that can be triggered in our awareness, and are red flags that we still have some unresolved issues from our past to embrace and work out in our consciousness. We sometimes call these “emotional hauntings” (If you are interested in learning more about dealing with emotional hauntings and following your gut instincts to a higher awareness of your inner nature, see: http://instinctualgutfeelings.blogspot.com/2013/04/following-gut-instincts-to-awareness-of.html).

On the otherhand, instinctive feelings are deeper and less mind involved than emotions. They originate from the gut or Hara, and on a purely intuitive and instinctive level they have little to do with thinking at all. Please be clear that we are not talking here about other animal instincts, but of Human instincts related to Human inner Nature. In a way, it would be more accurate to call them “elven instincts” as these Human or Humane (superhuman) instincts (pure gut feeling energy) are always calling us to be closer to our true Nature and in harmony with Nature all around us. This is why we Silver Elves say that if a person wishes to be an elf, they can become an elf by becoming more and more aware of their own inner nature, the instinctive feeling guide within them, and begin to follow the Elven Way quite naturally. Sadly, many humans choose to ignore their most Humane aspect, their inner instinctive Nature. But never the less, our Human or Humane (superhuman) instincts, our elven instincts, are never completely atrophied and are always sending us signals to guide us to find a balance between feeling loved and connected to others (acceptance through soul connection) and in being in control of our own responses to life (freedom of spirit). These two needs of the soul and spirit must be constantly in balance and too much of one without the other leaves us feeling empty. If they are in balance, then we feel full of life (just check your gut!) and our vitality flows freely, with body and mind united and in harmony with all of Nature. And instinctive feelings are generally quieter, even though deeper, purer and magically more powerful and enduring than emotions. Instinctive feelings are like planets and stars, while emotions are like comets and asteroids.

How can elves use our “Elven Instincts” in our Magic?

We can empower our magic with emotion, but that is for very short term magics, usually. Instinctive feelings are for enduring magics — the deep magics that come from the center of our being and flow outwardly into the world. Emotional magic is more likely to cause a big stir in the short run but it is instinctive feeling magic that usually produces lasting results.

When you run into conflict and feel very emotional about it, you can blast your opponent with emotion-based magic and that can be quite effective, but it is usually only effective for severing relationships, it is not very good for keeping them going. Although, passion can be a great way to start something, but in some ways, passion is really like burning rubber before you race off in your car. In the long run, it is true feeling that will keep a relationship going.

And if you long and hunger for relationship, feel quite alone and empty, it is just those instinctive feelings that can be used to Call Your Others, for the feelings of aloneness and emptiness contain the possibility of togetherness and fulfillment. Pour that longing into your spell as you Sound the Call of Gathering and Union.

We know, some people say that you should ignore those empty feelings and fake it till you make it. That is what most of the normal world does, and pretends everything is just fine right up to the point when it all goes sideways and then they get very emotional about it all. But we elven do not ignore our feelings, and instead our elven spirit calls us to seek to understand the difference in our emotions and instinctive feelings. In doing this, we embrace the instinctive feelings related to our true inner Nature (our “elven Instincts”) and are then able to direct them toward the fulfillment of our dreams. And all that we desire and have missed comes to us at the right time following the radiant silver threads of our inner Nature.

If you would like to read more about the elven psyche and the evolutionary and esoteric purpose of mental disorders in a hopeful perspective, we suggest: Elven Psychology: Understanding the Elfin Psyche and the Evolutionary and Esoteric Purposes of Mental Disorders by The Silver Elves.

elvenPsychBookcoverbig
Elven Psychology:
Understanding the Elfin Psyche and the Evolutionary
and Esoteric Purposes of Mental Disorders

by The Silver Elves.

Here is an excerpt from Elven Psychology on instincts and evolutionary development:
“. . . .  this emphasis upon the symbolic and upon the significance of mind over feelings is an evolutionary development associated with the fifth root race and eventually evolves into a more intuitive (elven) approach to life. In other words, this and many of the other disorders are a natural (in their unnatural way) step toward a greater and more developed humanity. Once the new mental function for human beings with the emphasis on symbols is developed and expressed, mankind will see the necessity for once again bringing in the awareness of their feelings/instincts which have been repressed and will then unite the body and mind, opening the ability for higher intuition with a true evolutionary advance. That the elves tend to be a bit ahead of many other races in regards to this development is only to point out, as folklore and fiction have often done, that we are the Elder/Eldar race and thus a little bit ahead of the rest of humanity in the process of evolution. But they will catch up in time, although by that time, most of us will have moved on.”

Now for Some Elven Fun!

5tree-1

If you have not already done so, or would like to do so again to see if anything new comes up for you, it is time for some elven fun in our Magical Forest! We invite you to come to our website and enter our elven forest and go through the Elven Tree of Life Eternal to explore your magical nature (it’s free and completely private). It is set up somewhat like a choose your own adventure book and a fun way to explore your specific magic while all roads lead to Elfin. It will help one understand if one is a wizard or a sorcerer, a healer or a warrior, an elf of wood, snow, hill, ocean, starlight, or a sprite, a faerie, a gnome, a dwarf, a changeling, a dragon, or some other magical folk. If you wonder about your true magical nature, come explore the ever-flowering branches of The Tree of Life Eternal. If you find yourself circling in particular realm, then this is perhaps important to recognized as part of your magical Nature.

You may stop any time (as the game goes on forever). And, when you feel you would like to exit our magical elven forest, please do return to “the Eald of the Silver Elves home page” at any time you wish by clicking the “home page” link at the top of any page you happen to be on. You may enjoy other pages on our website including reading some of our Magical Elven Love Letters or taking our Elf, Fae or Otherkin Survey and we will happily gift you a beautiful narrative about your magical tribe (this is not an automatic response but instead is especially written for you based on your responses and our own elven intuition). Also we would be happy to gift you an elven name in Arvyndase (the magical language of The Silver Elves), just see our ‘Want an Elf’ name page on this website.

We also offer this same experience in book form: The Elven Tree of Life Eternal: A Magical Quest for Our True S’Elf.

—Ancient Elfin Knowledge

If you enjoyed the article above on using our feelings in elven magic and following the path of elfin, then we suggest that you might wish to look into some of our Silver Elves books on magic like The Keys to Enchantment: Mastery of the Faerie Light Through the Portals of Manifestation and also particularly Faerie Unfolding: The Cosmic Expression of the Divine Magic. Faerie Unfolding is an advanced book of elven philosophy concerning we Silver Elves’ views on the nature of the Divine and its expression and manifestation into the world as seen from those cultures that are most connected to and historically expressive of Elven Culture. It is a further development from our other books (which we also suggest if you have not already read them) — Through the Mists of Faerie: A Magical Guide to the Wisdom Teachings of the Ancient Elven;   The Elven Way: The Magical Path of the Shining Ones;  and Liber Aelph: Words of Guidance from the Silver Elves to our Magical Children — and opens the adept elfin enchanter to new understandings of the Unfolding of Faerie and its magic into the world and our part, as elfin beings, in its expression. We Silver Elves illuminate this with a new way of understanding traditional lore and mythology, as well as modern stories of our faerie peoples.

We include our magical art processes from faerie altered clothing and making faerie houses to creating magical elf stones and ritual tools such as a Book of Shadows (or a Book of Twilight as we elves call them) and also a Scrapbook of Shadows, chalices, ally dolls, wands, canes, staffs, seaweed pod rattles, magic plates, elven warrior shields, wishing wheels, mojo bags, and elven witches brooms and magic spoons. Do elves use sigils and hyper-sigils to become more elf-like?

February 1, 2020

runestar copy

“. . . indeed many if not most elves use sigils of various sorts and perhaps even more are inclined to use hyper-sigils. . . our elvish hyper-sigil, our art as an outpouring of our magic, our life-style as an expression of our elvishness, is certainly an important part of our lives as elfae beings. And while it doesn’t really make us more elfin, it is a more elf-like expression of our being in the world . . .”

First, of course, the answer to this question, like so many others, depends upon the elf. But, in general, we would say that indeed many if not most elves use sigils of various sorts and perhaps even more are inclined to use hyper-sigils. But before we go further, let’s attempt to define what we are talking about here without in any way limiting the expression of or our understanding of these two terms, sigil and hyper-sigil, nor limit you in your own understanding and definitions thereof.

A sigil, as you surely know, is a symbol, sign or signature of a being, energy or spirit. The ankh is a sigil of eternal life of Ancient Egypt. The cross, with and without poor Jesus nailed to it is used as a sigil of Christianity. The swastika is an ancient sigil of Hindus and Buddhists (although misused by the Nazis) representing a spiral galaxy.

Our book An Elfin Book of Spirits is filled with spirit signatures, which are sigils. And Voudoun Veves are surely sigils as well. In fact, you could say that tags, which are seen here and there painted on walls of cities and towns around the world, except where tyrants rule, are sigils as well. We could also say that Runes are sigils (see our book The Book of Elven Runes), or can be used that way, and Druid Oghams (see our most recent book An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid: The Ogham of the Elves Using Elvish Wizard Script) and surely the seven-pointed acute angled Elven Star is a sigil as well (see our book The Elven Star Oracle). Looking around the room we are currently sitting in, we see numerous sigils upon our walls in every direction, including sigils from ancient Taoist Calligraphy Magic.

Hypersigils or Supersigils, which we admit are new terms to us, none-the-less are something that has been part of our magic for years and involves the use of magic, art (see our book Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic), drama and the persona as an expression of magic. In other words, one makes one’s magic real by living it and incorporating it into one’s art and one’s lifestyle. And we’d say that almost all elven folk do this even more than they use traditional sigils.

Even those who are not entirely sure they are really elven, fae or otherkin, often do this without realizing they are doing so when they LARP or RPG or otherwise live out their elven life in their imaginations. We Silver Elves, and others like us, have simply extended this practice into our regular lives and live the life Elven in reality.

Still, pretending one is an elf or fae is really, in this sense, evoking a hyper-sigil, whose effect may very well prove to be an eventual awakening for that individual, especially when they encounter other elfae who are manifesting their elven natures in reality. See our book Living the Personal Myth for more on bringing your magical s’elf into manifestation.

Carl Jung created the idea of Synchronicity, which was a term that defined coincidences that had psychological significance and impact for the individual. So that the individual experiencing a synchronicity not only sees that a coincidence has occurred but also feels that there is meaning behind the connection of these two or more similar, and to them related, events. This assigning of meaning is, in part, what we are doing as elves and as magicians and magic wielders in general. We are organizing the Universe in such a way that it has meaning and purpose for us and we are doing it in such in way as to manifest Elfin and express ours’elves as elves at the same time. The meaning we see in things may not be seen, recognized or acknowledged by others, but then others often don’t recognize that we are elven either.

This isn’t much different, in its way, from being able to read a language that others may not. Our elven lives are hyper-sigils but they are in an elven script that few others can read. At the same time, you could say that all the books we Silver Elves have currently in publication about elven life, culture, magic and philosophy are also hyper-sigils and yet while anyone who reads English can understand what the words say, it doesn’t mean that they will understand the inner, magical meaning of those books. It is not just about understanding the words, but understanding the enchantments that live within the words.

However, the original question didn’t actually ask if we used sigils and hyper-sigils but whether we used them to become more elf-like and here we’d have to say both yes and no. We are elves. In a sense, there is nothing that can make us more of what we are, because we are what we are and that is elven, or fae or other. But on the other hand, by expressing ours’elves and our elven nature through and into the world, we are becoming more elf-like in the sense of better able to express ours’elves more purely in the world and shed the various trappings and enculturation that have been forced upon us by the mundane worldly in their eagerness to make us like them.

So, in that sense, our elvish hyper-sigil, our art as an outpouring of our magic, our life-style as an expression of our elvishness, is certainly an important part of our lives as elfae beings. And while it doesn’t really make us more elfin, it is a more elf-like expression of our being in the world and that certainly is rather the same thing while being a bit different. Just like we elves ours’elves.

tiny_green_7star
A bit on some of the Silver Elves books about elven sigils and hyper-sigils that we mentioned in the article above. . . .

spirtbook

An Elfin Book of Spirits: Evoking the Beneficent Powers of Faerie

An Elfin Book of Spirits contains the sigil and description of 360 Elfin spirits, one for each degree of the Zodiac, that can be summoned by evocation to help the magician with whatever he or she desires. It also reveals a system for using stones to find a spirit at random, which is what we Silver Elves most often do when seeking the aide of a spirit. These are Elfin spirits, so they command the powers and influences of Faerie and in addition to helping the conjuror fulfill hir Will, they will also ever seek to guide the magician to the fulfillment of hir Destiny and the progress toward the perfection of hir True S’elf.

Elven Runes, original divination system . . . .

The Book of Elven Runes: A Passage Into Faerie

This is an original elven divination system of The Silver Elves.

The Book of Elven Runes contains 40 elfin runes for use as an oracle and as a magical script. These are not based on the Norse runes but are an original system created by the Silver Elves. The book is subtitled A Passage Into Faerie because each rune also advises a Magical Act that the magic wielder can perform to bring hir closer to Faerie. The use of these runes is itself an elfin spell cast in a unique way as each user weaves hir way deeper into the Elfin Realms.

The Ogham of the Elves with Wizard Script . . . .

Cover_ElfinBookOfTrees
An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid: The Ogham of the Elves Using Elvish Wizard Script is an oracle book about the magic of trees, our loving cousins. Reading this book, you will learn about the magic that individual trees and tree groups may bring you, written from the point of view of the elves. And besides using this book as an oracle, each tree or tree group (of which there are 111) has an Elfin Ogham in the Wizard Script of the Silver Elves that may be used in your own magic. This book is easy to use as an oracle and the specifics on just how to do so are covered in the introduction and through out the book, with elven spells at the end of each chapter, written in English and also Arvyndase (the magical language of the Silver Elves), to be used for enchantment magic upon drawing the tree or tree group. To read more about this book and some sample chapters, please click here as we have a special blog page dedicated to this book.

And for the star enchanters we suggest:

The Elven Star Oracle: A System of Divination for Star Enchanters :

elfstarbookpic
THE ELVEN STAR ORACLE is an original divinatory system created by the Silver Elves invoking the 88 major constellations and the blessings of the Shining Ones for guiding one through the world and ever closer to the realization of Faerie. It is called “The Elven Star Oracle” because it is based upon the seven pointed Elven Star, sometimes also called the Faery Star, and the areas between the points, overlaid on the dimensional manifestation of Faerie and the realms that are linked to it. To view an excerpt of this book and find out more about it, click here to come to our website where we feature this oracle.

As we elves often say, “Our beauty often comes from our uniqueness.” If you would like further guidance on making the magic of Faerie real in your own life, we suggest reading  Living the Personal Myth, a unique narrative about a psychological study of the magic of living one’s personal myth, in effect, making one’s dream and vision of one’s self come true by living it. It is a personal guide to becoming one’s true s’elf as one inwardly knows one’s s’elf to be. This book is a potent guide to realizing one’s genuine, and potentially powerful, magical and fantastic nature.

MythImagecoverLiving the Personal Myth:
Making the Magic of Faerie Real in One’s Own Life

by The Silver Elves

“Elfin is like an island across a great vast sea. To get to it you can either sail or fly. To sail you can use the vessel that is your soul. To fly you need the wings of your spirit. The ship of your soul is your love of all things elfin, the wings of your spirit are the faith you have in your own true s’elf and your willingness to make it real. It does not matter entirely how you get there, but if you be elven in your soulful spirit, get there you must.”

Many people ask us which Silver Elves books to begin reading first and so we say, which ever sounds right to you, follow your elven intuition, as there is really no right order! But if you would like a suggestion, you may wish to begin with one or more of these four books:
1. Through The Mists Of Faerie: A Magical Guide to the Wisdom Teachings of the Ancient Elven
This is our most popular book and one we highly recommend reading by anyone interested in elves and the elven way.
2. The Elven Way:The Magical Path of the Shining Ones This is a companion book to Through the Mists of Faerie, but may be read in any order. It is also a very popular book and a good one to start with.
3. The Book of Elven Runes: A Passage Into Faerie
4. The Book of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves

What do the elves think of Santa Claus?

December 22, 2019

ZardoaElf

“We elves love Santa Claus . . . and he also loves us. He is a great elf lord . . . . Santa’s elves are not non-union labor working for very little under the thumb of the great Shining Ones, but really Santa’s elves are volunteer labor, doing what we do out of love for others and an eye to making the world a better place for all beings. The fact is, we are Santa’s elves. Merry Yule!”

We elves love Santa Claus — also known as Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas, Old Saint Nick, Kris Kringle, Sinterklaas and other names — and he also loves us. He is a great elf lord, and to us elves he is an evolved elven spirit, a Shining One influencing our world. And despite being filtered through Christianity, along with the usurpation of Yule being turned into Christmas as a celebration of Jesus’ birthday, which was actually, according to Christian scholars, most likely in June or July, Santa still resonates in our elven hearts for his great compassion and kindness.

The Christian folk also seem to have turned Santa into the form of a Catholic Bishop, but the fact that he is truly an elf, albeit a very advanced one, surrounded by other elves, gives us some idea of his true, which might in this case mean, unconscious or prehistoric origins. When we say unconscious origins, we mean the inner symbolic meaning of the things we tend to associate with him. For instance, the fact that he is often said to use a sleigh pulled by reindeer links him surely to the Sami or Saami peoples of Northern Finland, Norway and Sweden and even parts of Russia. They were his ancient elven helpers, surely.

Santa, whose name some people note is an anagram for Satan, and in as far as he brings gifts for the poor as well as the rich, we suppose he would seem like Satan to some people who delight in their social status and privilege, and delight in having more than others, and want everyone beneath them to struggle for every crumb and scrap. Although mostly this linkage between Santa and Satan stems from religious lunacy which ever seeks a reason to see evil in the world and is held by those who condemn all things and people that they don’t agree with or who don’t share the same beliefs.

This linking of Santa and Satan can be further seen in the use of the names Saint Nick and Old Nick (as the devil is sometimes called). But if Saint Nick, or Beloved Santa, as we sometimes call him, or Father Yule, as we might call him as well, is Satan, then he is Satan redeemed, or the Devil purified and uplifted returning to his angelic position through the purification of his karma via good works, which is the object of all evolution and thus he would serve as an example for us all.

On the other hand, it is good to remember that Satan, who along with his demons keeps evil doers in Hell, imprisons them there to be tortured and punished forever (according to Christian lore) and is really an agent of G.O.D (the Government of the Divine). He is the warden of Hell. And his demons, who do the torturing, are the jail guards (see our Book of Elven Magic, vol. 1 & vol 2). So, from an elven point of view, Santa is not Satan, or anything close and his elves are certainly not prison guards.

However, we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that Santa is often noted for giving presents to good boys and girls and his sometime companion Krampus is said to punish those who have been bad, thus bringing social judgments into the lore as well as allowing parents to use the lure of material goods as a means of wielding some control over their children as Yule approaches. Of course, many parents don’t threaten their children with the idea that Santa will punish them so much as he will withhold presents that they would otherwise get if they are not good. This, of course, is simple Behaviorism and signifies the difference, often misunderstood, between Punishment and Negative Reinforcement.

In elven thought, Santa doesn’t punish anyone, nor do his companions. The world is punishment enough as far as we are concerned. Santa, in as much as he is able, gives gifts to everyone to encourage them to be better. The magick of Santa is enchantment magic, ever encouraging us (see our Silver Elves book on enchantment magic: The Keys to Elfin Enchantment: Mastery of the Faerie Light Through the Portals of Manifestation).  His spirit promotes family and world harmony and the idea that even those who have been bad deserve a chance to change, improve themselves and be better as spirits.

Everyone needs at least one person in the world, who isn’t giving them things in order to get something from them, manipulate them or otherwise control their behavior. Someone who stands against the cynical attitudes that most people project that everyone is, and should be, out for themselves, that there is no such thing as a free lunch, and that everyone is always looking for an angle. Someone … someone, just needs to be kind every once and a while, without expectation of return and with a deep inner conviction in the basic goodness of the human spirit.

Nor do we see Father, Papa or Daddy Yule, along with Mama Solstice, his wife or maybe mistress, necessarily being elderly, overweight folk. They are, in fact, great Shining Ones and are capable of taking any form or appearance they desire. And the elves, well, they make us seem like Keebler Cookies Elves, or often little gnomes or even goblins.

Well, actually, that we understand. When normal folk encounter us in our true elven forms they are either terrified themselves, or are judgmental about us, or sometimes both at the same time so we can see why they’d wish to picture us as being essentially harmless and unassuming little workers, laboring joyfully and tirelessly for their benefit and part of the great commercial machine pumping out junk to satisfy the endless hunger and desire they have aroused through subliminal advertising.

But Santa’s elves are not non-union labor working for very little under the thumb of the great Shining Ones, but really Santa’s elves are volunteer labor, doing what we do out of love for others and an eye to making the world a better place for all beings. The fact is, we are Santa’s elves. Merry Yule!

“To the Elves, Santa Claus is a great elven lord. How do we know he is an elf? He’s surrounded by elves! How do we know he’s a great lord? He gives gifts so generously! Who but an elf would be joyously surrounded by elves? And who but a great elven lord would give so much without asking for anything in return? Except perhaps that you re-gift as generously as you got and live in the elven spirit of the holidays.”

The Keys to Elfin Enchantment: Mastery of the Faerie Light Through the Portals of Manifestation by The Silver Elves
Elven EnchantmentA book of enchantment, for enchanters, revealing the Keys to Enchantment, the true and greatest magic of the elfin folk. It is filled with the philosophy of the elves and how they encounter and subtly transform the world wielding and fulfilling its dreams and desires while guiding it toward a better and more elfin future.

From a 5 star review by Reikibevon:
“I have just finished reading this book and found it a source of true delight. Even though the book is pragmatic and educational, the wit of the Silver Elves comes through in such a way as to lead you into a state of true enchantment. A large part of the book is devoted to the four keys of Elfin Enchantment, and an original explanation of the seven chakras, helping you to understand where you are on your path of spiritual development.
It is also a treatise on psychological development, aiding you in the understanding of your own Self.
I loved the chapter on the Ganconer near the end, for I have known two of them in the last couple of decades. They both added a new depth of magic to my life.
I highly recommend this book to seekers of knowledge of the Elfin tradition.”

The Book of Elven Magick: The Philosophy and Enchantments of the Seelie Elves
magicbookwebcopyThis book by The Silver Elves explores the Elven viewpoint concerning magick and the world, and traditional spiritual and religious myths. It covers the tools of magic and gives magical ceremonies that may be adapted for use by modern elves. Begins the progression of color magics. The two volumes give the complete progression of color magicks and also explore Elven Vortexes and Covens, as well as our theories on calling the directions and dimensions and more.

From a 5 star review by Nikolay Lyapanenko:
“I read this book from cover to cover and highly recommend it!
A very deep book, that dispels stereotypes and myths about different religions, beliefs and make a completely new understanding of Magic as a great power of Love and power of Creativity! It describes a lot of rituals, ceremonies, spells, that help to change life, to protect and heal ours’elves, and our loved ones and to live a happy life.
This book gives us answers on such popular questions as what is it magick, how it works and how it can be used.
Also it touches on many religious themes, giving answers on such questions as who is G.O.D, who is Satan, who is Lucifer, who is Shining Ones and about how to build a good relationship with all of these powerful beings.
This book describes how to work with different energies, spirits and helps to understood Magic as a great power, which gives great opportunities. A wonderful book!”

The Elements of Elven Magic: A New View of Calling the Elementals Based Upon the Periodic Table of Elements
elements_bookA book to use for summoning and evoking elements to help you in your life and magic. Taking a new look at the idea of the elements and the elementals, this book merges the reality of Science, which is Nature, and Occult tradition and have introduced the elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water into the modern age of the Periodic Table of Elements.

What the Silver Elves have to say about this book:
“We have been wanting to write this book a long time to expand the traditional knowledge of calling the elements in magic evocation. We hope that reading it will feel much like attending a grand elven ball as you meet the Lords and Ladies of the Air and the Noble Gases, the Masters of the Nebulous realms; the Lords and Ladies of the Liquid Elements, the masters of Fluidity; the Lord and Ladies of the solid elements, the Masters of endurance and manifestation; and the Lords of Ladies of fire, the Masters of the Realms of radiance, transformation and illumination.”

An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid: The Ogham of the Elves Using Elvish Wizard Script

We Silver Elves are happy to announce the publication of An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid! It is our 50th book on elven philosophy, elven oracles, elven magic and enchantment, living the life elven and on The Elven Way. We have been writing the material in our books since 1979 when we first began sharing the Magical Elven Love Letters each month with our kindred by snail mail and then later by email (later we compiled these into three volumes of books). To read more about all 50 of our books see our author page on Amazon. Those of you who know us, may know that we actually plan to write 100 books, and possibly a few more. So with this book, we are now half way to our goal. We are 72 years old so we plan to live long to accomplish this challenge, but then elves often have the advantage of living long lives.

This latest book, An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid, is surely one of our very favorite books because it is about the trees, our loving cousins, and we learned so much about them in the writing of this book. Reading this book, you will learn about the magic that individual trees and tree groups may bring you.

So now we are excited to tell you all about this new elven oracle book, An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid . . . .

“We have always loved, from the first moment we encountered them, the trees and therefore admired, from first we heard of it, the relationship of the Druids to the trees. Being Silver Elves — Elves of Starlight, Moonlight and the Radiance of the Trees — we naturally feel an affinity for nearly anyone else who also loves trees. And the Druids, being seers, bards and magic wielders, especially found a place in our hearts, minds and souls for their deep love and connection to the trees and to the spirit world.”

“This book can be used as an oracle. Perhaps, that is its chief purpose. That is up to you, really. For our own part in writing it, we learned a great deal about the tree families of the world and for us that was wonderful. We love trees. Not that we’ll remember it all or even most of it. But a passing acquaintance is nice. This book is a way, in a sense, of listening to the trees. It is not the same as being out in the trees and feeling their radiant and wondrous presence, nor ingesting some of the herbs that plants and trees use to enlighten us. However, not all of us, in the modern world, can be among the trees regularly or as much as we would like and this tome is, in that sense, designed to express their voice in the form of an oracle for those of us who are unable at present to spend a great deal of time among them. Although, in our hearts and imaginations, we are ever surrounded by the forest. And in that sense, this book is a forest, an elven woodland, an elvish glade, a living book of tree lore.”

About this book . .  from the INTRODUCTION

“We are also genuinely fond of Liz and Colin Murray’s The Celtic Tree Oracle and even though some people find Robert Graves’s book The White Goddess and its interpretation of the Language or Alphabet of the Trees to be spurious, we found great insight in it, although we accepted from the beginning that it was a theoretical interpretation and not necessarily a factual representation of the Druids and their Ogham Script and their Alphabet (Ælfabet) of the Trees. After all, the Druids had an oral tradition. They didn’t write anything down as far as their teachings, beliefs, tales, myths and history until they became Christianized (those that survived the Romans), and almost everything we know about them comes, for the most part, from their contemporaries, the Romans, and from the archeologists of today who, for their own part, are doing a bit of educated theorizing about the Druids just as the Romans did (although, hopefully, with less bias).”

“There are only twenty-five letters in the Druid tree alphabet, associated with letters of the English language, but obviously connected previously with various Celtic dialects and languages. That has always seemed too few trees to us. We realized that the Druids, surely, were dealing with the major types of trees in their vicinity, the British Isles, parts of France and Spain and mostly Southern Europe, where they lived and this is certainly understandable. We each tend to speak of and deal with the world that we know.”

“We, being elves, however, see the whole world as our ancestral lands, and quite frankly there are certain types of trees, which we love and adore, that just weren’t represented in the Tree world of the Druids, but which are decidedly part of our own Elven understanding of the world of the trees. The Banyan tree is one of these, one that we truly adore, although there are others. You could say that we woodland elves are tree worshipers; however, this is surely not the case in a religious sense but in the sense of pure absolute love and adoration for the wonder of the trees who have a power of enchantment that is all their own. Some trees are wise beyond our understanding and provide enlightenment and illumination to those who are open to their wisdom.”

“At the same time, there are over 60,000 species of trees in the world, so dealing with every species seemed a bit more than we wished to take on. Although, we wouldn’t mind doing so in a future lifetime. It would be rather like when we created, channeled, remembered, whatever you will, our Silver Elf language of Arvyndase (see Arvyndase (SilverSpeech): A Short Course in the Magical Language of the Silver Elves and The Complete Dictionary of Arvyndase), which took us over a decade to complete. So, we decided instead to deal with the basic types and families of trees, which gave us 111 possibilities overall and this seemed perfect and doable to our elven minds. In some cases, we picked a whole tree family to be represented by a Wizard Myne (we decided we should call these runes as Wizard Many-s [spelled Mynes in Arvyndase] instead of Ogham Fews) and at other times we selected individual trees. And so, in this way, we have created, channeled, remembered The Elven Book of Trees and expanded our Wizard Script to go with it.”

A Little About the Wizard Script (used as the Elven Ogham for each of the 111 trees in An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid) . . . . “We Silver Elves love scripts, magical scripts especially, but all sorts of scripts. We are particularly fond of the Tibetan alphabet and also Arabian script, both of which look a bit like tribal tattoos to us. We also love The Alphabet of the Magi, Angelic, also known as Celestial, Enochian, Malachim, Passing the River, Theban and the Ogham Fews (letters) of the Celtic tribes and their Druids. We have even created our own elven scripts for Arvyndase that can be found in our book of that title and Wizard script, which is our version of the Ogham, the script of the Elven Wizards and Elven Druids.”

“We had originally created Wizard Script as letters associated, along with the Arvyn and Sylvyn scripts, with our own elven language and the twenty-five letters of the Arvyndase language (there is no X in Arvyndase, the sound X makes is either a Z sound at the beginning of a word or a KS sound within a word or at its end). However, in creating An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid, we realized that we needed a lot more Wizard Script letters than we had originally created, but thankfully found that Wizard Script lent itself easily and naturally to their creation.”

“Further, we very much admire the look of the Ogham Fews that we have seen in photos of ancient carved stones and in modern times on sticks of wood, short branches that have had a side shaved off with a word spelled using Ogham upon it. We hope that our elven kindred will find Elven Wizard script Mynes as magical as the Ogham Fews and that they will delight in it as we delight in almost every script.”

This book is easy to use as an oracle and the specifics on just how to do so are covered in the introduction and through out the book, with elven spells at the end of each chapter, written in English and also Arvyndase (the language of the Silver Elves), to be used for enchantment magic upon drawing the tree or tree group.

Below are excerpts from three chapters (of which there are 111 in all representing the basic types and families of trees) that you may enjoy reading to sample this oracle book.

The first excerpt is from Chapter 98, the Fir tree. Have you wondered about the magical meaning of the Fir tree, a genus of the evergreen coniferous trees, and the most popular choice for celebrating around during Yule? Please read on!

Chapter 98:
Fir

c98web

Keyword: The Number 13

Tree Name in Arvyndase: Tarle (pronounced: Tayr – lee)

Arvyndase Name of the Wizard Myne: Tålyn (pronounced: tahl – lynn)

This Tree and Its Magic:

The Fir tree is associated with the traditional Ogham Ailim and with far sight. This is true especially of the Silver Firs, because of their great height. The Douglas Fir, by the way, is not considered a true Fir. Firs differ from other members of the Pine family due to the way in which their needle-like leaves. which together resemble a suction cup, are attached singly to their branches at a common base, and the fact that their cones stand erect on the branches reminiscent of candles being held upright (the origin of the lights or candles on the Yule tree?).

Due to this, we Silver Elves associate these trees to the Wizard Myne Tålyn that is an extension of the Arvyndase word Tål that means path, as in one’s spiritual path, the path to which we elfae become attached like a suction cup, because it lights our way into the distant future like a candle, granting us far sight and the ability to see our Destiny. Like the leaves of these trees, we tread the Elven Way both singly and together, lighting the way for others who seek the path as well.

What This Oracle Means:

In getting this Wizard Myne, it is advised that you look into your future, your far future, your destiny and see how you can get there. Especially, join with others in a vortex or some other elfin band and work together toward your mutual and common spiritual goals. At the same time, always preserve your uniqueness as an elfae, your individuality, your sense of s’elf and the confidence and inner authority of your being. Often groups seek to break individuals down to make them conform to the group, but those are not truly elven groups. In elfin groups, we light the way for each other. We support each other’s individuality and often each other’s eccentricities and we tread the path together as strong individuals united.

Be strong, kindred. Look for yours’elf into the future and see what is there for you. Others may see something different, but hold true to your own sense of the path. People sometimes talk about the ‘odd man out’, but we elves are the ‘odd that are in’. Individuality is a vital part of our culture and we are all different together, for our uniqueness is one of the things that we elfae share in common.

Enchantment Spell:

“I stand with you and you with me
Together we shall ever be free”

This Spell in Arvyndase:
El lotz ena le nar le ena el
Eldan eli van vari te alo

Pronunciation:
Eel low-tz e – nah lee nair lee e – nah eel
Eel – dan e – lie vane vair – rye tea a – low

Also enjoy reading an excerpt from chapter 17 on the magic of the Saguaro cactus:

Chapter 17:
Saguato
c17 copy

Keyword: The Number 1

Tree Group Name in Arvyndase: Nedalpa (pronounced: knee – dale – pah)

Arvyndase Name of the Wizard Myne: Lefålyn (pronounced: lee – fah – lynn)

This Tree and Its Magic:

The Saguaro cactus, which is often seen as an icon of the American West, is a tree-like cactus that can grow up to forty feet tall. It is native to the Sonoran Desert of Arizona and Mexico and can also be found in parts of California. Note that the sorcery of Don Juan Matus of Carlos Castaneda’s books often takes place in the Sonoran Desert. So, there is an aspect of elven sorcery here.

These trees can live to one hundred and fifty years old. While they often have branches or arms that grow out, some are a simple trunk without arms and this armless tree is called a spear. Thus, we Silver Elves relate this Wizard Myne to the Number 1, that looks like a spear, and to the elf spear and also to the desert elves. Its Myne name, Lefålyn, comes from the Arvyndase word Lefål (lee – fahl) that means spear.

The Saguaro is able to store up large amounts of water, which helps it subsist during the long periods of desert drought. It has numerous spines that are also, in their way, spear-like or dagger-like. And it produces white waxy flowers from the months of April to June that create a nectar that is beloved to honey bees, long nosed bats, particularly, as well as, white-winged doves. But, it also attracts woodpeckers, hummingbirds, orioles, the gilded flicker, a type of tit, and also the house finch, all of which contribute to its pollination.

It produces a ruby red edible fruit that can contain up to 2,000 seeds. Some birds, such as the Gila woodpeckers, purple martins, house finches, and gilded flickers create nests inside the Saguaro, but abandon these nests each season to create new ones. This leaves the old nests available for flycatchers, wrens and elf owls, although non-native and more aggressive birds have been invading their territory thus making it hard for the elf owl to find shelter. Where have we heard that story before?

What This Oracle Means:

In receiving this Wizard Myne, one is advised to prepare for possible difficult or lean times ahead. One might be wise to save, rather than spend, at this point, to be strong and stand up for ones’elf without being aggressive, speak your truth without demeaning others, even if they are rude to you, and give as generously as you can when you can do so. For in this way, you will gain support when the time comes that you really need it. Be a shelter for others and help them endure the hard times as well and, in doing so, you will increase your spiritual and magical clan and find a niche in an otherwise hostile territory. The key here is in making alliances.

It is possible that you are in an area where there is not much in the way of elven culture, or elfae friends or kindred and while migrating elsewhere may be a solution, it also may be the case that you simply cannot do so at this time because your job or support system is tried up with the particular area or situation you are currently in.

It is difficult being an elfae in the modern world and often finding those we can relate to as kindred elfin in our vicinity is hard as well, and this requires incredible resolve and perseverance and quite often we must compromise and hang out with those who are most elfin-like while they may not actually be elfae or, at least, know and identify as such. We might call this Hanging with the Unawakened. You are a ‘Stranger in a Strange Land’ (as the Wilhelm/Baynes translation I Ching says), or really, a Stranger in Your Own Land and only the most resilient of elves can stay true to their path under these circumstances. Most folks cannot bear the loneliness and thus fade back into the world but even if you do so, it is quite possible that Elfin, in the form of other elves, will come along in time to find you and you will be stirred from your nap and refreshed and can start once again, renewed and more experienced. The Elven Way is always there and available, even when we are not treading it.

Enchantment Spell:

“I shall endure and will succeed

And another excerpt from An Elfin Book of Trees for the Elven Druid, on the Dipterocarpaceae family of trees (each having two-winged fruit)

Chapter 20:
Dipterocarpaceae Family

c20 copy jpg

Keyword: The Number 2

Tree Group Name in Arvyndase: Frofaborelpa (froe – fah – bore – eel – pah)

Arvyndase Name of the Wizard Myne: Froflyn (pronounced froe-f – lynn)

This Tree and Its Magic:

The Dipterocarpaceae family of trees and shrubs contain about 16 genera and approximately 695 species that are for the most part tropical lowland rainforest trees. The family name comes from the Greek words di, meaning two; pteron, which means wing; and karpos, which is the word for fruit, all this because of the two-winged fruit that these trees produce. Therefore, we Silver Elves associate these trees with the Wizard Myne Froflyn, which comes from the Arvynadse word frof, or wing. This myne is used to symbolize the Number Two, and is further associated with Faerie Wings and by extension Elf Ears, which are the symbolic representations of the faerie and elven peoples.

Besides being harvested by Man for timber, these trees are valued by the elfae for balsam, for their aromatic essential oils and for other resins that they create. We elves love our aromatic essential oils and we expect that the faerie folk do as well. In fact, we put them on nearly every day.

These trees can rise to great heights, some reaching 260 feet tall, about 80 meters, and generally grow above the rest of the trees in the forest reaching for the sky, as faerie wings allow the faeries to ascend to great heights. It is said that these trees have ‘crown shyness’, which is to say that when they become mature, they do not let their crowns touch each other, an indication to the minds of these elves of individual uniqueness and nobility. In fact, for the elven, uniqueness and eccentricity are signs of nobility.

In Borneo and other places where these trees grow in abundance, it is said that up to 90% of these trees in a particular section of the forest will all bear fruit at the same time. This is called ‘mass fruiting’ and its evolutionary purpose is to overwhelm potential predators with abundance, (a very elven way of going about things). The predators then eat their fruits and propagate them all over the forest as they migrate from place to place seeking another area where these trees are in the process of fruiting en masse.

One of the major contributors to this process is the bearded, wild boar that tirelessly forages the jungle, roots about in the earth and reshapes the soil surface and at the same time in doing so accelerates the decomposition of organic matter. Its browsing clears the undergrowth, which improves the access of tree roots to needed soil nutrients. Note that the blue boar was often used as a symbol of wild power and warrior spirit by the Celts. The native folk of Borneo see this bearded boar as an ambassador from the spirit world of the forest, the realm of the elves and faerie folk, and possibly the Celts saw them this way as well.

What This Oracle Means:

While modern faeries don’t usually have physical wings, nor do most incarnate elves have pointed ears, the faeries do like to create and wear their wings from time to time and we elves don our elf ears to declare who we are spiritually in our hearts (feelings), minds and souls (our connection and link to others). Thus, if you get this Wizard Myne as an oracle, it is time to be daring enough to reveal who you truly are, at least to those you can trust, and let the Light of Elfin and Faerie shine anew through you and out into the world around you.

It is not that you can trust everyone. But we do have the great wise bearded spirit boar (possibly blue, which denotes the second ray of Love-Wisdom, what the Elf Queen’s Daughters used to refer to as our Shield of Love, see The Elf Magic Mail: The Original Letters of the Elf Queen’s Daughters with Commentary by The Silver Elves, vols. 1 & 2) to protect us. And we have our own mature understanding that tells us it would be naive to think that everyone will accept us for who we really are, and those who take any sign of difference as permission to bully and persecute those unlike them do exist.

But they are not everywhere and they usually feel very uncomfortable venturing into Faerie or Elfin. Not everyone will accept you for who you truly are and know yours’elf to be, but surely there are those around you who, while they may not totally understand your elfae nature will be openminded enough to let you wear your wings of spirit or your noble elf ears without making fun of you or harassing you for doing so. They may even find it quite intriguing, while others of your kind may very well join you.

In other words, be yours’elf. Wear your elfae crown as the unique individual that you are and stand tall in the world, independently, and lead the way for others. Find those with whom you can trust to share this inner truth, and nurture and protect each other and let your faerie or elf or otherkin out for a run, or a soar.

Enchantment Spell:

(faerie)

I spread my wings and I fly

Up into the spirit sky

(elf)

My ears are pointed you can see

I am elf and I am free

Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic: Using Art-Making for Evoking Elfin Magic and Living the Elven Way

HedgewitcheryBook
Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic:
Using Art-Making for Evoking Elfin Magic and Living the Elven Way
by The Silver Elves

Sold here on Amazon USA
and also sold here on Amazon UK

We Silver Elves are so very pleased to announce the publication of our newest book Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic: Using Art-Making for Evoking Elfin Magic and Living the Elven Way. In this book, we share with you many of our favorite magical elven art projects that we have enjoyed doing in the last 40+ years and give you guidance and detailed instructions for creating your own and using them in your magic, along with over 100 photos to demonstrate the art processes. Also, this is a book of elven spells and enchantment magic, with elven rhyming magical spells (200 in total) that you may use in rituals to empower your art and magic with each magical item and creative project.

We further have chapters on making elfin dream pillows, fairy dust and pixie powder, elven magical boxes or reliquaries, elven Mbuti, paintings, illuminated circles, magic soul cards, tarot decks, pan pipes, fantasy maps and even some of our favorite elven group-art games like elven notan and Elven Chess. We also have a chapter on spell crafting using the seven-pointed elven star. And in our final chapter, we share with you more about the Orb of Healing, which is a magical artifact that is at the center of our elven magick.

In Elven tradition, there is not quite the strict line between formally educated magic and hedgewitchery, or s’elf educated or street magic. Perhaps this is true in part because most magic wielders of these days have to be at least a bit (and usually quite a bit) s’elf educated, gaining our understanding though practice and sharing our knowledge with each other. People often ask us to tell them more about how we do our magic each day and to describe our rituals. There is no better way to understand our elfin magical practices than to study our art, how we make it and how we use it (except to come spend some time with us, of course). Our art and magic are intertwined, and we are sharing with you in this book a real “how to” glimpse into our magic and enchantment spell crafting through our elven creative process of art-making.

This is a book of magic — very practical magic that involves the creation of one’s magical tools, which include wands, staffs, rattles, crowns, hoods, robes and many other instruments of magic and, in this case in particular, of elven magic and enchantment. So it is only natural that we include spells in this book for all magical items that you can use in charging your instruments and tools. Of course, you can always make up your own or alter them as needed. However, the spell you use may vary with the purpose of the tool you are making. For instance, wands might be made for a variety of specific purposes. It is also possible that a wand would be an all-purpose or general purpose wand, like a doctor who is a general practitioner rather than a specialist, but it is also possible to have a wand for a specific purpose. In elven lore, usually magical tools, such as a ring of power, have a particular ability associated with them. The One Ring of Tolkien’s lore, for instance, gave the wearer the power of invisibility, although curiously, it did the opposite for Sauron and seemed to give him substance. Perhaps it related to the plane the individual wearing it was on. If the person was a regular material being, it would make them invisible, which is to say, less material, but if the person was a more etheric being, such as Sauron, it gave him power and form in the material world. Most magical items in magical lore are of this nature, seven league boots, invisibility cloaks and so on, each offering a specific power. So we offer you a variety of spells that reflect the usual uses of the magical item in question. (As you scroll down this page, you will see that we have given you a few examples of spells from the book).

You will notice that most of the spells in Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic are rhyming or chanting spells and might be called mantras, which is not to say that all mantras are rhymed, although most elven mantras/spells are. This is not only because we Silver Elves love making up little rhymes but also because traditionally spells are often rhymed. Rhymed enchantments are easy to remember and create a certain vibration and radiance in their rhyme, which is a certain magic all in itself and has a bit of a hypnotic or trance effect to it as well. So when doing the incantation, make it vibrant, let it hum or sing in your mind or as you resonant it out loud. Remember, the Universe is made of energy, vibrating at various frequencies. In vibrating your spell, you are attuning to Nature and the Universe. The frequency will depend upon your own voice that will make it perfectly suited to you, your nature and your specific enchantment.

Also, all of the 200 spells in this book are presented in both English and Arvyndase (the magical language of The Silver Elves), along with the pronunciation in Arvyndase. Using this elven language will increase the magic of the spell you are casting, but of course, your own intention and effort is what most effects the magic. We often use Arvyndase in our art-making, particularly writing our magic on our wands and staffs, in our books of shadows, and our magic traveling rocks, all of which are covered in Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic.

Often in books about magic, people talk of making wands by going to a tree, finding an appropriate branch, thanking the tree for its donation, sometimes asking it for permission first and intuiting the answer and so on and then cutting off the branch. In old stories of witchcraft, spells are often put together using an herbal concoction, so to speak, with the eye of newt (very popular apparently) and tail of salamander and so forth. We elves prefer found magic. We don’t go to the forest or nearby woods and cut a branch from a tree, rather we find a branch that has fallen or that we have otherwise come across and use as the basic part of our wands accepting it as a sort of gift from the Earth and the Universe, which is to say from the Divine Magic.

This, to us, is part of our Elven Hedgewitchery. The gifts of Nature are abundant and most of the magical items we create are gifts of Nature, or sometimes gifts from other folk, or most often a combination thereof. It is sometimes said that nothing in life is free, and yet these elves have all sorts of things that we have come by freely, without theft, mind you, that we use in our magical creations. Buttons come to us, pieces of jewelry (some of these broken but still usable for our art), clothes, cloth, ribbon, lace, embroidery thread and sewing thread, wire, string, cord, and all sort of things as you will discover as you explore this magical tome of elven art. The elven art, really, of making magic.

This is a book of Elven Hedgewitchery and as you will see upon reading it, it isn’t really about doing things exactly the way we have done them but about inspiring you, as much as possible, to look around your own elven home and the environment you live in and see what is easily, freely or inexpensively available to you so you may create your own elven art, magic pieces, clothes and other items to manifest Elfin in your own life and for your kindred, and in that way express your individual elfae nature.

Also, we encourage you to collect, collect, collect, especially those things that others have failed to see the value in but are still wonders to your eyes. We promise you, if you do this and use your magical collections to create enchanted art and elven fashion, more treasures will come to you, out of the blue and from the Mists of Faerie and the Twilight Realms of Elfin.

“Elf witches are much like other witches, except instead of attempting to make particular things happen as we desire, we seek to assist Nature to fulfill Destiny perfectly. For that is what we truly desire, anyway.” —The Silver Elves

What Is the Magic of Being an Elf? And Why is Magic Slower to Manifest on the Material Plane?

August 2, 2019
zdancing
“. . . the true magic, our true power as elves and elfae originates from the fact that as we continue on the path of Elfin, dance together along the Elven Way, we become incredibly lucky. And this is not something we do or create directly, but an incidental side effect of being and living the life Elfin. This is not something we directly control by the power of our will but by being in touch and attuned in our inner beings and our outer behaviors with Elfin and Faerie, we draw luck to us like a magnet attracts iron filings. . . . Compared to the higher planes where one’s thoughts can create reality nearly instantly, then yes, we Silver Elves would say that magic is always slower on the material plane. But then, that is its purpose.  . . . It was created. . . . for the very reason that we needed to slow things down and put some time between our thinking and the manifestation of our thoughts into reality or really into form or structure. “

What is the magic of being an elf?

We have discussed in these blog articles how one begins upon the Elven Path and proceeds to follow the Elven Way (see our book The Elven Way: The Magical Path of the Shining Ones), however, what is just as important and, in many ways, more significant is what happens upon the path as one continues to pursue it. In many ways, starting upon a spiritual and magical path is easy. This is especially so if one is awakened and inspired by other elfae beings for then there is a sort of relevatory experience that attends one’s awakening and that peak experience or spiritual high helps one to launch ones’elf unto the path and get at least a metaphorical mile or two down the road before one confronts some of the day-to-day realities of living the life elfin.

For while one has changed as a person somewhat in realizing that they are an elfae or otherkin of some sort, the world around one remains essentially the same. One’s perception of it might transform in time and one may gain Elf Sight and thus see the energetic underpinnings of the world and be able to perceive Elfin and Faerie, as well as, begin to see orcs, faeries, goblins, brownies and all manner of elfae folk about one among those who seemed quite normal previously. One is able to see through their glamor to the truth beneath.

But for the most part, our first understanding of our elfae nature doesn’t tend to immediately alter our day-to-day habits and behaviors nor does it change the various challenges one often faces in the world nor the way we interact with others. It is, in its way, rather like when one first falls in love, but in time that feeling usually fades, one is no longer levitating and one is faced with confronting life once again on a gravity bound planet.

And, in addition to this, one is frequently confronted with the fact that some of the people who were upon the path along with you fall away or wander off the path and you discover, and this is usually mostly true of those who seemed the most devotedly fanatical about it all, that for them it was just a fad after all. When the enchantment wears off, they wander elsewhere seeking that same high again rather like individuals who go from one relationship to another ever seeking to fall in love over and over and over again. In the circles of those who use drugs, this is sometimes referred to as Chasing the Dragon, but one can never really experience that initial high again.

It can be hard to tread this, or any, path alone. One naturally seeks one’s elfin kin and without them it seems a long weary road. However, if one does persevere, and only the truly elfin ever do so, one will find that certain magical powers begin to develop. These are not, for the most part, the sort of Harry Potter magics one sees in movies. Those would be nice to have, of course, but the fact of the matter is that most of those powers are only ours when we are out of the human body, which means in our dreams, our fantasies or the Between Life realms. In those realms, we have great power and can pretty much create and do anything we will, but here on gravity bound Earth, limited by the bodies we inhabit, the magic powers we acquire are mostly those of enchantment (see our book The Keys to Elfin Enchantment), which is to say they involve, for the most part, the power of the personality, the development of our personal and collective aura and therefore our developing charismatic abilities.

As we work on ours’elves and make determined effort to increase our ability to cooperate, harmonize and work in coordination with each other there is much we can accomplish that seemed near to impossible previously. And if that were all, that would surely be enough.

However, the true magic, our true power as elves and elfae originates from the fact that as we continue on the path of Elfin, dance together along the Elven Way, we become incredibly lucky. We may not always know what, or when or where this luck will come but we are always grateful as well as amazed when it does. Be elfin, beloved, be lucky. After all, we are amazingly lucky to be elves.

Zardoaquote41

Why Is Magic Slower to Manifest on the Material Plane?

Compared to the higher planes where one’s thoughts can create reality nearly instantly, then yes, we Silver Elves would say that magic is always slower on the material plane. But then, that is its purpose. It was created, some might say intentionally and other accidentally, for the very reason that we needed to slow things down and put some time between our thinking and the manifestation of our thoughts into reality or really into form or structure. For the material world (Earthly plane) is primarily a plane of form. Its very reason for being is to create functional laws and pathways through which magic can manifest in, hopefully, reasonable and sensible ways that don’t create conflict and in which everyone, every spirit, can fulfill its will perfectly without interfering with or interference from others.

In the Between realms, that is to say between one incarnation and another, our thoughts and desires manifest immediately all around us. Buddha in his many forms tells us that these created worlds are an illusion, which is to say what we manifest in that realm is comparable to a dream. It seems real at the time but when we wake up ….  In the Between, we are creating our own dream worlds, independent in their way from other dream worlds happening all around us.

This is true in a sense in this physical world as well, in which people often live in bubbles of reality, unaware of the lives, struggles and tribulations of others, and certain that their own thoughts constitute the truth, just because they think them. In a certain sense, they are right, but it is a limited sense and a very isolated one and thus one that doesn’t exercise the full potential of the soul, which is our connection to others and to the Universe at large. The ultimate goal is the fulfillment of our spirits in soulful connection to all others in as much as they will allow this to be so.

In the beginning, which is to say on the seventh and most subtle plane of manifestation, we are all one. Our souls are One/Unite and attuned, and our spirits, our individual drives and aspirations were just emerging. There, when we did magic, our desires came into being instantly. We might consider this as being movement and thus creating the idea of sequential development and time. It was the first motion into manifest being. Alas, as numbers of us became mobile, we began bumping into each other. All our desires, all becoming real, all at the same time, but not all in harmony with each other.

We were differentiating and those differences were sorting themselves out into form. In time, these collisions resulted in what we might call a Big Bang and we began manifesting planes that were a bit slower in manifesting our magic, which is our thoughts/ideas or images, desires and feelings and our individual drives toward s’elf realization. We were creating form, but in doing so we were also limiting each other, putting a bit of time between our thoughts and their manifestation, because instant manifestation resulted in a bit of a mess. Just look around you. As Above, So Below, this world is a reflection of that one. This is, of course, a different view of the creation, a more transcendental one than the idea in which God is the sole creator of all things and everyone should bow to his will that one finds in most monotheistic religions and say in Tolkien’s The Silmarillion.

Now that we are past the half way point of the Kali Yuga, the Dark or most Materialistic Age, we are headed toward a situation where the world will become more spiritualized, which is to say more infused with spirit and thus more responsive to magic and its instantaneous fulfillment. However, this is not an automatic development, and everything depends upon our own evolution as spirits. The greater power we obtain over our own thoughts, desires and behaviors, the greater our power to manifest what we wish quickly and become true Adepts.

Some people, through time, have interpreted that to mean that we must dominate ours’elves as well as gain dominance over others and while there is some truth to the idea that being dominant helps one attain power in the world and thus achieve what one desires more quickly, the fact is that domination always breeds rebellion, on the one hand or mindless subservience, on the other. And this is true both within ours’elves and with others whom we might seek to dominate. Resulting once more in chaos.

The key for the elves has always been enchantment (see our book The Keys to Elfin Enchantment), by which we obtain joyous and willing cooperation from others, putting the greatest limitations and the most demands upon ours’elves, without being overall strict, which would cause the body to rebel, and. therefore, serving as an example for others. In this way, we eventually achieve all we wish as spirits through our soulful connection to each other. We all rise together, soulfully attuned and every spirit achieves its own natural fulfillment. We help each other as best we may and all our magics come to be just as quickly as they can for there is nothing to obstruct them.

If you enjoyed these articles above on elven magic and the path of elfin, then we suggest that you might wish to look into some of our books on magic like The Keys to Enchantment: Mastery of the Faerie Light Through the Portals of Manifestation and also particularly Faerie Unfolding: The Cosmic Expression of the Divine Magic.

And For Some Practical Elven Magic. . . .

And we are happy to announce the publication of our newest book on Elven Magic!
Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic: Using Art-Making for Evoking Elfin Magic and Living the Elven Way by The Silver Elves is a book of magic — very practical magic that involves the creation of one’s magical tools, which include wands, staffs, rattles, crowns, hoods, robes and many other instruments of magic and, in this case inHedgewitcheryBook particular, of elven magic and enchantment. In this book, we share with you many of our favorite magical elven art projects that we have enjoyed doing in the last 40+ years and give you guidance and detailed instructions for creating your own and using them in your magic, along with over 100 photos to demonstrate the art processes. Also, this is a book of elven spells and enchantment magic, with elven rhyming magical spells (200 spells in total written in both English and the magical language of the Silver Elves — Arvyndase, including Arvyndase pronunciation keys) that you may use in rituals to empower your art and magic with each magical item and creative project. We further have chapters in Elven Hedgewitchery and Found Magic on making elfin dream pillows, fairy dust and pixie powder, elven magical boxes or reliquaries, elven Mbuti, paintings, illuminated circles, magic soul cards, tarot decks, pan pipes, fantasy maps and even some of our favorite elven group-art games like elven notan and Elven Chess. We also have a chapter on spell crafting using the seven-pointed elven star. And in our final chapter, we share with you more about the Orb of Healing, which is a magical artifact that is at the center of our elven magick.
You may read a bit more about this book and a few examples of spells from it here.

Why Do Elven Witches Call their Covens “Vortexes”?

July 2, 2019
ElfWitch
“This idea of the vortex as an elven coven was published back in 1974-76 when the Elf Queen’s Daughters was quite active and the Elf Magic Letters were sent out regularly and described the various vortexes (vortices) that existed at that time. . . . The elven idea has ever been that we are the vortex of power. It is our very coming together and living together, creating elven communities that creates this aura, atmosphere and domain of Elfin and Faerie and their powers manifest. . . . We are, in fact, a vortex of swirling, shimmering energy growing stronger as we grow closer together in harmony and mutual appreciation.”

2_3_7tinystarOur sisters of the Elf Queen’s Daughters (EQD) wrote in the 70s that we elves referred to our covens as vortexes (or you may use the proper spelling of the plural “vortices”). This idea, however, was meant to also describe the small ealds of the EQD where various sisters and brothers had gathered together to live and do their elven magic and ply their elfin enchantments from there and out into the world, such as the vortex of the Fox River elves, our own Elves of the Southern Woodlands vortex, and the vortex our elf sister Tasa’s Hood River vortex. Thus, the vortex was a coven and also an eald or demesne of Elfin and a gathering of elfin being all at the same time. This idea of the vortex as an elven coven was published back in 1974-76 when the Elf Queen’s Daughters was quite active and the Elf Magic Letters (see our books Elf Magic Mail, vols. 1 and volume 2, that contain all of these letters) were sent out regularly and described the various vortexes (“vortices”) that existed at that time.

Witches’ covens are composed of members who come together and seek to raise the Cone of Power, which is, in fact, the Vortex of power and energy. The elven idea has ever been that we are the vortex of power. It is our very coming together and living together, creating elven communities that creates this aura, atmosphere and domain of Elfin and Faerie and their powers manifest.

This meaning of the Vortex of power and energy and thus elven covens being vortexes, is in keeping with another idea that our sisters of the EQD wrote about (and that we have seen repeated numerous times since) that we elves don’t so much do magic as “we are magic.” This goes along with the distinction we tend to make between magic as it is generally practiced as a power-over or dominating energy and as an enchantment (see our book The Keys to Elfin Enchantment) with magic practiced as an energy promoting and encouraging cooperation and mutual success and fulfillment. The enchanted do what we will, not because we force them to do so but because they find joy in doing so. Tolkien also made this distinction between magic and enchantment in his scholarly article On Fairy-Stories.

We have written elsewhere on the fact that it was our sisters of the EQD who in the 70s first used the seven-pointed acute angle star as the Elven Star, sometimes called the Faerie Star, that has become so popular in Elfae culture around the world. We carried on using this star, not only personally, by wearing it as an amulet around our necks for the last 40+ years, but also publishing it in our Magical Elven Love Letters (see volume 1, volume 2, and volume 3 of our books of the same title. And clearly, it got adopted and adapted and carried on and passed on by others of our kindred. In many ways, we could say that the elven star is the symbol of the energy transmitted by the elven vortexes from the tribe of our ancestors to the elven tribes of the ancient future.

While we don’t know the exact links from us as sister/brothers of the EQD onward, what is clear is that there is something about the Elven Star that calls to the hearts and imaginations of myriads of Elfae kindred everywhere and its prominence in the Elfae and Otherkin community may be due to something very similar to Jung’s idea of the Collective Unconscious, only with a less genetic and material basis for it and a more spiritual, mythic, imaginal and energetic Collective Unconscious. It is not so much memories and information secreted within our bodies as it is our culture hidden and carried within our souls and spirits. In doing our Elven, Fae and Otherkin tribe survey (see: https://silverelves.wordpress.com/2019/08/14/what-kind-of-elf-fae-or-otherkin-are-you-what-is-your-tribe), while we create narratives for our kindred based upon their specific answers to our questionnaire and we look mostly for what is unique about each tribe in doing so, we have still found many similarities among the Elfae folk of various tribes.

Our point here is that there is an energetic and soulful connection between and among the Elfae folk that inclines us toward a recognition of certain ideas and images. The Elven/Faerie Star is surely one of these, but so is the idea that we are magic within our very beings. We are, in fact, a vortex of swirling, shimmering energy growing stronger as we grow closer together in harmony and mutual appreciation. It is not that we are all the same, for certainly we are not, but that there is an energetic connection between us that is carried on from life to life and by which we are able to recognize our own kindred by sense and feeling if not by sight alone or seeing through the glamor that most of us have woven around ours’elves in order to pass safely through what can be, at times, a hostile world.

If you add to that the fact that we learn the esoteric secrets of Elfin magic mostly through osmosis, which is to say direct contact (as an oral tradition or we might say as a “living tradition”), most often in the flesh with our kindred, and we learn mostly through example, it becomes clear that our culture is not a stagnant one that is limited by doctrines, dogmas or religious structures, but an active spiral of energetic togetherness,. This increases in power in association with each other. Reach out, beloved kindred, let us grow our enchantments ever stronger in the vortex of our togetherness.

Each of these three books is a collection of letters with dominate themes of what it means to be an elf and the elven way of life, the Shinning Ones, Elven magic and elven culture. These letters were written by The Silver Elves to encourage elves to awaken to their Elfin nature, to be true to their individual destiny, and to embrace their starry heritage. They are filled with Elven Philosophy and observe the world from the point of view of the Elves, which is often quite unique from how most people view and experience the world; and their unique Elven Philosophy of Magic that is often similar and yet distinct from traditional theories and methods of magic.

The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1
This book contains our very first Magical Elven Love Letters
and a few of our early internet letters.

A Sample letter from The Magical Elven Love Letters, Volume 1:

“letter number 1-15. . . . a crystal is a million stars united
It is our way to look within to our own spirits for the harmony and peace from which the creative energy of the Great Mother Nature flows outward to perceive a new world of unity. So it is through this inward looking that we reflect in our words and actions clear vision of our s’elves. Our vision mirrors in all directions to the world its purest part… the s’elf in All.”

“We, through the ages, have striven to obtain a clearer vision of our s’elves. The world of conflicts remind us that we still have far to go, a journey long, long, long it is… a journey to the stars. A journey to the stars within us. We seek to transcend outer conflict by turning within to our own s’elves. Our true s’elves, our inner identity goes much deeper and yet is simpler far than the encult*urated roles we play as we pass into and out of the worlds. By seeking Elfin within ours’elves and by striving to see “the elf” that is in everyone we obtain a clearer vision of the life we once knew… the unity of all.”

“We play the roles of society for the sake of preserving unity. Still the archetypical forms with which we do identify are far from the structured worlds of social standing and IQ ratings. No more of it. We have come to dance and sing and listen to birds… remembering ages long gone by enough to come again… come again.”

“Elfin is for us not so much a place we can go, as a place we can be. It is the energy we expend toward becoming more gentle and more loving… the effort to evolve and develop our inner natures, our modesty and adaptability and our unending purpose to respect and be fair to all creatures whatsoever… these are the real steps to Elfin and it is our wish that all the Elves might transform those steps into a dance of love that will be to the children a bright and radiant mandala whose center is the dawning of a gentle race.”

“Elfin is open to all people whatsoever, yet it is equally true to say that at the present time/space juncture there are very few who are open to Elfin and thus they could never enter it. These folk can never even see the elves even when we are sharing a space/time. We, by nature, strive for union… it is our way… with these folks as with all. We share the air, the swaying of the trees, the song of the bird… invisible magic vibrations emanate and we are all the better for the experience and it “lit the fire to the soul who never knew its friend”. It is not our purpose to impose elfinness upon anyone… an act impossible in its core and no true elf would try… yet for those who are open, whose inner heart remembers a tune half forgotten from long, long ago and far, far away, we move ever deeper into the Faerielands. Come along, elves. It is a long journey ahead but together it can be a great adventure. A new land, a new life, a new people and a brighter day.”

“There comes a moment in each elf’s life when standing on the border of twilight that lies between the world of normal reality and the elfin lands beyond… a realization comes of a sudden that the twilight is fading and that they must move of their own into the Faerielands or remain in the world of the everyday. We are going, brothers and sisters, into the Elfin realms and our hearts are alive with the memory of ancient lifetimes when we were all together. Our minds remember not but in our hearts dwell memories that cannot be obscured through the aeons of life and death. As we watch you, standing on the border hesitant, drifting, listening to the voice of the thousand misgivings, the lies, the rationalizations, we sing to you gently: Remember… Remember… Remember long ago, or… was it only yesterday or soon to be tomorrow. We are going and trust that our children’s children’s children will emerge in the vibrational reality of Arda reborn: a planet healed and paradise won.”

Is Magick a Privilege or a Right?

May 1, 2019
SIlverFlameRed
“It can be both, but in the end, we seek to have powers that originate from our inner being rather than those that we are simply given or are loaned to us for a time.”

2_3_7tinystar

When Tolkien’s Frodo, Bilbo and Gollum had the ring that gave them the power of invisibility, the magick that they used was in the form of a privilege. As long as they possessed the ring (or the ring possessed them) they could use its powers, but the power was not their own and as soon as they lost the ring they lost the power.

The same idea is essentially contained in the idea of the genie or djinn in a lamp, in which an individual rubs the lamp (why not light it?) and a genie comes forth and must do their bidding. As long as they possess the lamp, they can direct the power of the djinn. And this is the essential idea with all sorts of magic objects, rings of power, enchanted swords, cloaks, boots, and so forth. The power belongs to the individual only as long as they have the magic object in their possession.

This is similar to the powers individuals obtain when they are elected President, Premier or hold some other official position where they may wield certain powers only as long as they hold the office. The power does not belong to them, it is only on loan, so to speak, it is a privilege but not a right.

We might say that prayer, which is the evocation of a particular deity, is a form of magick, but in prayer one becomes utterly subservient to and dependent upon the beneficence, grace or whim of that deity. One has given up any magick as either right or privilege and becomes much like villagers who go to the local witch to cast spells for love or success for them.

On the other hand, we have ceremonial magicians who are supposed to have formulas by which they might wield power over beings/demons/spirits who have power. In certain ways, this is rather like blackmail or the coercive practices of gangsters. You can blackmail a person into doing something they don’t wish to do but they never really like it and you can never really trust them not to betray you at the very first opportunity. This is the ‘power over’ sort of magick and this is popular among men. Is this power a right or a privilege? Well, it’s a mixture really. They have obtained the power to force the individual with power to do their bidding. It is a sort of right/rite, but an indirect right. They are still dependent upon outside forces to carry out their will, and usually, we are told, carry it out unwillingly. It is rather the power of the lion tamer. He never knows when they might take exception to his commands.

This idea of ‘power over’ is quite popular in the thinking of many men, and goblins and orcs and dark sorcerers, too. They are often heard to say in movies that one can’t be given power, it must be seized, it must be taken to be one’s own and here they are speaking of a distinction between privilege, elected office, we might say, and right of power, the assumption of power through the use of power. While some might question the legitimacy of power so obtained, few can deny the reality of such power. It is power obtained, even if by force, not power granted, although, uneasy rests the crown.

Similar in some ways is the magician or witch who carries out barter with spirits. The spirits still have the essential power, why else would the magician evoke them, but the witch/wizard/magician offers something in exchange for the spirits help. We might call this commercial magic. One is buying what one desires or trading for it really. This surely is, in part, the source of the idea that ‘magic always has a price’, that is so popular in modern media. In a certain sense this is a more reliable magic, since you don’t always have to fear that the spirits are out to trick or betray you, but like in business, as the Romans said, “Caveat Emptor,” “Let the buyer beware.” You still have to be sure of the reliability of the spirits you evoke.

Magick, as originally conceived, was the evocation of the powers of Nature and setting them into motion through the appropriate formulas. This is magick as being similar to chemistry. If you know the right formula and put the ingredients together in the proper measure and proper order and under the right conditions, things will turn out as you desire. The right of magick here might be thought in terms of forcing one’s will upon Nature, but the right comes from knowledge. It is not a privilege but an attainment of esoteric information that one can use to obtain what sHe (she/he) desires. And one might say one uses force, but really one uses the flow and tendencies of Nature. It is the understanding of the power of the fulcrum, the use of magick as block and tackle. It is not so much about the application of force but the transference of force.

In Buddhist thought, we are ultimately conceived to be one with our environment. We, as magic wielders, command the world and create it in the same way we command our own bodies. We are not forcing something outside of us to do this or that, but moving our own being as we will. Thus, we have people in the Matrix and other films telling someone who is attempting telekinesis not to move the object so much as be the object and then move.

We elves understand that we are not just channels of the magick for some outer force. Although it is an attunement with the magic of Nature around us, our magick is primarily the expression of our own inner being. The Magic Divine exists as potential in everything, but it is by arousing it within ourselves that we effect things magically outside ourselves. In that way, it does not just channel through us but also from us and then we can effect what is around us. Another way of saying this is that we are a part of the Magic Divine, so we just have to find it within ourselves and express it. This is also why self awareness and development is so important, in that we must clear the way within our consciousness in order to reach this potential.

We elves are primarily enchanters. It is true we have, and do, study all sort of magick, astrology, yoga and various other esoteric studies from various cultures around the world, but our primary use of magick is ever though enchantment, which involves the development of our own charms, personality and beings. It is true that we may get others to do things for us, and we surely reciprocate for their efforts, often giving them more than they gave us, but we don’t force spirits to act for us, and those who do serve us do so willingly and really are not outside of us, so much as a part of our magical and enchanting elfin family.

If there is privilege involved, it is our privilege in knowing and being associated with such wonderful kindred, on whatever plane they may currently be. If there is barter, it is in terms of mutual exchange and appreciation. We never have to fear that they are cheating us, because we will always give them more anyway. And it is a right because it is by virtue of our own efforts to develop ours’elves that we have obtained the authority that others lend us and is born of our own inner confidence, in ours’elves and also our confidence in them.

So, is magick a privilege or a right? It can be both, but in the end, we seek to have powers that originate from our inner being rather than those that we are simply given or are loaned to us for a time. Still, we elves don’t mind gifts and we ever seek to use them well so that what we have been given, even for a short while, will bear abundant fruit for the future.

The Elements of Elven Magic: A New View of Calling the Elementals
Based Upon the Periodic Table of Elements

THE ELEMENTS OF ELVEN MAGIC: A New View of Calling the Elementals Based Upon the Periodic Table of Elements is a book to use for summoning and evoking elements to help you in your life and magick. Taking a new look at the idea of the elements and the elementals, the Silver Elves have once again merged the reality of Science, which is Nature, and Occult tradition and have introduced the elements of Earth, Fire, Air and Water into the modern age of the Periodic Table of Elements. It is a new and original view of the Ways of the Ancients as expected of the Elves. The Silver Elves present for your consideration a new and elven way at pursuing the magical art of evocation of the Elements and the Elementals. Their wish is that it serves you well and hopefully evokes your own imagination and stirs your particular and individual style of magick.

“To the elven, magick is much like romance. We don’t attempt to force our way on others, we seek to charm them into assisting our will. But we do so because we find them amazing and lovely and trust that through our enchantments, they will consider us so as well. It is a dance and hopefully ever mutually fulfilling.”

The Circle of Magic . . . . . .

The circle of magic
Goes ever round,
What we did in the past
In the present is found.

And spells we do now
In the future unfold,
In the time and the place
That our actions foretold.

So choose with great care
The choices you make,
For all you will give
Is all you did take.

And all that you gift
Will be your return
To Elfin most fair
With the lessons you learn.

An elven poem for you on this beautiful day!

I WISH TO DANCE FOREVER FREE . . . . . .

“I wish to dance forever free
Upon the dewy down
As starlight through the mist does see
The glimmering of her gown.

And here and there about me round
They come with loving smiles
To dance and play the night away
With their enchanting wiles.

And where we step the moss springs back
No trace that we have been
Except in our deep memories
Shared among elf kin.

And others coming after
In the morning light
Find nothing of our revelry
But a vague sense of delight.”

Do Elves Do Blood Magic?

April 1, 2019
hruins
“This idea of blood sacrifice is a product of the Kali Yuga, the dark age that we are still in during this modern era, this most material or materialistic age where people seem to see everything from a materialistic point of view. . . . we speak here about the true energy that powers magic and while many people believe it is bloodletting, we elves do not. . . . It is not blood or any other material thing that delights the Shining Ones who help, guide and aid us as best they are able, but our happiness that delights them, just as a child’s delight brings joy to the hearts of the adults that watch hir (her/him) so our joy brings greater delight to those kindred of ours who live upon the more subtle planes of manifestation.”
Note: The photo shown above is one we Silver Elves took of the Kaneaki Heiau in Makaha, on the island of O’ahu. When we first moved to Hawaii in 2008, we lived just a short ways down the valley from this restored Heiau and visited it a few times. We were told by local native Hawaiians that the Menehune (the “Little People”, elven or dwarf folk) and other wee folk of Hawaii, are said to have built this temple, Kaneaki Heiau, in the 15th century as a sacred site for the local chief to honor the Rain Goddess and to serve Lono, the God of agriculture. It was a peaceful temple until later in the 17th century when King Kamehameha I rededicated this temple to “Ku” the God of war and it was then used as a place where prisoners of war were sacrificed. This practice ceased in the early 1800s.

Part One: Does magic always require sacrifice? If so, does it require a blood sacrifice of some sort?

We are approaching Easter, a time in the year when a major religion in the world celebrates the willing blood sacrifice of their promised Messiah, his death and resurrection. This is a good time to examine sacrifice in magic and if bloodletting is truly required.

Blood magic is based upon the idea that is commonly put forth in television shows, movies and books about magic that magic always has a cost, always requires a sacrifice of some sort and that that sacrifice is commonly blood or life in some form. The fact that this idea that magic always has a cost is repeated again and again over decades in the popular media makes it suspect in the minds of elves. Anything the normal folk unthinkingly parrot as truth, in the experience of these elves, is usually false or a twisted version of the reality created to reinforce their particular prejudices concerning the nature of life and the world. And we automatically examine it just because they believe it to be so and they are almost always mistaken.

So, let’s consider this idea that magic always requires sacrifice and that blood is usually the most common and effective sacrifice one can render, not dismiss it out of hand, but render it due consideration as to its value and veracity. After all, as they tell us even a broken clock is right twice a day (unless it’s a digital clock and then it’s probably not keeping time at all) and the world of the normals is often very much like a broken clock, ever trying to run backwards or keep time perpetually the same and unchanging.

Surely, most things in life require effort. Magic is basically action based on intention and action requires us to do something, so certainly we could say that magic does require some energy input to occur, yet, on the other hand, there is both the magic that we do and the magic that we experience. The idea as expressed on some bumper stickers that Magic Happens, has some truth to it. Some magic just seems to happen and these elves have been the recipients of a great deal of luck in our lives of which we didn’t do anything at all (at least not in this lifetime) to necessarily make it happen or deserve it except to be our own true s’elves.

Yet, to do magic ours’elves, to create enchantments … that does require a bit of energy. Still, from an elven point of view the best enchantments require very little input and give a great deal in return, so much so that one is surely getting more than one is putting out and thus has more than enough to invest again. Enchantments pay off, and the best enchantments seem effortless. Isn’t that really the idea of magic as well as good business that investment brings greater profit? If we plant a seed and it grows into a tree that produces fruit for generations, we have invested little and gained a great deal. That’s elven magic.

But does magic always cost? If we wish to turn on the lights and we wave our hand and the light comes on, that requires us to wave our hand, surely. Not to mention, but we will, the electricity bill. Yet, we could just walk out into the daylight and get light for free, except we’d have to get off our butts and walk out. And who hasn’t felt the sun on them and sensed its great magic, or looked at a night sky filled with stars and not experienced the magic it brings, or the magic and enchantment of the night itself. Yet, clearly at least minimum of effort is involved. So, in as much as everything in life requires some effort or investment, magic surely does as well. Although, again, one can experience magic for free. It is all about us.

But does that investment need to be blood, by which is generally meant pain or harm in some way to a living being (oneself or others)? And as a side note, why on televisions shows are they nearly always cutting themselves across their palms? That’s a hard place to heal, being flexed so often, wouldn’t it be better, if one did offer blood to prick one’s thumb, as in the fairy tales?

We won’t even get into the idea of killing chickens and other animals and all that other stuff that isn’t really sacrifice at all, except to say that all true sacrifice must be voluntary and leave it at that. We Silver Elves have spoken of this issue elsewhere numerous times.

But if we believe that sacrifice is necessary, and done properly, which is to say willingly, why blood sacrifice? Why not spit, or feces or urine? What is blood really but a carrier of our DNA and genetic coding. How about our our semen? Doesn’t that have our DNA in it?

This idea of blood sacrifice is a product of the Kali Yuga, the dark age that we are still in during this modern era, this most material or materialistic age where people seem to see everything from a materialistic point of view. Just as people talk about being of the elven blood and saying that they can trace their ancestry back to the Scythians and that thus in itself makes them elven, so blood is thought by materialistic thinkers to be somehow efficacious in terms of magic. But our question remains. Why not semen? Wouldn’t it be just as or even more efficacious?

Certainly, urine or feces or spit might be effective in spells that involve banishing someone. After all, aren’t we magically saying that they should ‘piss off’. And when we have contempt for people, don’t we spit at or on them, cursing them as we do so? So why is blood thought to be so powerful?

Well, urine and feces are waste products. Certainly, we don’t wish to offer the spirits something that is considered unworthy and essentially worthless, (although it can in time become great fertilizer and how precious is that?). And we could probably say the same about spit. But semen isn’t a waste product, per se. It is the essence of life. Shouldn’t that be a fitting offering. In certain ways, even more fitting? And a few strands of our hair pulled from our head would also be full of our DNA.

But we elves ask to whom are they giving sacrifice, or offering, and why? Devotees make offerings to their gods and demi-gods and goddesses of blood to demonic spirits, while offering fruit and other offerings to more benevolent beings. But to whom are magic wielders sacrificing blood or whatever to? To gods? To spirits? If so, what sort of magicians are they that require and appeal to intermediaries to do the magic for them? They might as well be praying for rain. The magician exercises power directly. He or she tosses a ball (a ball of light), sHe (he/she) doesn’t appeal to, or depend upon, some spirit to toss the ball for hir (her/him). (See Frazer and the introduction to The Golden Bough: A Study in Magic and Religion.) The enchantment/magician wields power, so what does blood or sacrifice have to do with it? We elven magicians strive to act in accordance with laws of Nature, not appeal to outside forces to act for us.

“To the elven, magic is much like romance. We don’t attempt to force our way on others, we seek to charm them into assisting our will. But we do so because we find them amazing and lovely and trust that through our enchantments, they will consider us so as well. It is a dance and hopefully ever mutually fulfilling.”
—The Silver Elves

2_3_7tinystar

Part Two: If the true energy that powers magic is not bloodletting, why is it in popular culture today?

The idea of blood magic, in our opinion, while it has wormed its way into popular culture really comes from religion. Of course, because the normal folk consider believing in god to be normal, they will pretend they do so, although in truth the only thing that they often really believe in is appearances and social position and hierarchy. But we are not here to criticize the herd for doing what they have learned is best suited to surviving and advancing in the world. They do what they do because they are survivors (as are we all up until we die), and they tell us this repeatedly. They even wear tee shirts declaring their survival skills. Long ages of surviving have inculcated these behaviors within them. Just as the long ages of being the weirdos, the strange elfae others that we are, have delighted our soulful spirits.

In the most ancient of times, shamans and magicians didn’t offer sacrifice to gods or spirits to do our magic for us. We studied the laws of Nature, really, we might say the Ways of Nature, or the Tendencies of Nature, since law makes Nature sound less flexible than it truly is. It can be exact surely, but it can also change like the weather as well. We used the powers of Nature to fulfill our wills. We didn’t seek to violate Nature but to nudge it gently here and there, making life more abundant and secure, while using its propensities to our own advantage.

And then, perhaps it was, we came upon the Djinn, the elemental spirits of fire, wind, earth and water. We began making deals and pacts and using ceremonial magick to summon them, to direct them according to our will (see Jonathan Stroud’s novel The Amulet of Samarkand) and bargains were struck and many magic wielders became somewhat dependent upon them, for they could do amazing things. Djinn began being seen as gods and magicians became priest magicians and then just priests. Well, most anyway, don’t forget us elves, us fae, us weirdo others who continue to remember who we truly are and what magic and enchantment are as well and have always really been.

Djinn as gods needed offerings and sacrifice and, of course, obedience in light of the covenant form with them. At first, the magicians demanded absolute obedience from the Djinn and then the tables got turned, the magic entangled and the slaves became the masters, as they nearly always do in time. Heed this well you who still seek to dominate others. Nature informs us of the cycles of life and the alteration of high and low. Everyone has their time, in the course of the lifetimes.

And then blood came into it. Why blood? It’s a curious thing. Born of conflict and the need for certain dark spirits to feed. But somewhere in all this, there is the love/hate relationship Mankind has with Women. Women that they adore, Women that they despise, Women that they exploit, oppress and treat as though they were their pets, that they can whip if they don’t obey. Women who, even today, don’t often get equal pay for equal work.

Women bleed, regularly. Women are witches, nearly always, even when they don’t know that they are so or practice consciously. Yet, the menstrual blood of Women has long been considered impure. In some religions, Women are not even allowed to enter the so-called holy places when they are having their monthlies. This blood is seen as contaminated, as profane. It is cast off blood and their gods, like vampires, want living blood.

And yet, those who are dominators still fear Women’s power. Why else would they oppress and exploit them? Wanting them to stay in their place, which is also what they tell their slaves and others that they oppress and exploit and look down upon, treating them as though they were less worthy due only to their gender, race or some other arbitrary factor. Women are magic, they know this in their unconscious even if they don’t admit it in their conscious minds. And Women’s magic, for the most part, is Natural Magic. The Old Magic, the Ancient Magic, the True Magic. Which is, in part, why many ancient shamans dressed in what might be seen as unisexual attire. Magic is about Nature, for Nature is Magic and magic is beyond sexual gender, while incorporating sex within it.

But let’s not stray too far from our topic, for this is not a screed about the oppression of Women or others. Our topic is not directly about the inequalities of the normal folk or their illogical and sometimes absolutely lunatic and misguided ideas concerning magic, not to mention nearly everything else, but rather we speak here about the true energy that powers magic and while many people believe it is bloodletting, we elves do not.

Women are magical not because they bleed regularly, but because they are, for the most part, more attuned to their own instinctual feelings and their own nature. Plus, they give birth (with some input from males). And that in itself is a sort of Thaumaturgy, a magic of creating miracles.

And if you have an elf child or have encounter one, you will know that they are miraculous beings, filled with ancient wisdom and magic. These little ones create magic without even trying. Which is true magic, indeed. They are enchanters supreme and while they are not yet educated in the ways of the world, their fresh and often unique observations upon it offer much that one can learn from. They inspire us and while it is true they may spill a bit of blood now and again, that isn’t what makes them magic or gives them their great powers of enchantment. And when they do so we, for our part, kiss it and make it better, so what does that tell you of the ancient elven ars magica?

“If you ask the elves what the greatest magical power is,
they will tell you healing, for healing sets everything aright.
And if you ask them what healing consists of,
they will tell true love, for true love heals all things.
And if you ask them what the source of true love is,
they will tell you it is the Divine Magic,
for the Divine Magic loves all of life and
eternally seeks its happiness and fulfillment.”

—The Silver Elves

2_3_7tinystar

Part Three: If not sacrifice, then what is the key to energizing the magic?

We suggested in Part One of our answer to the question “Do elves do blood magic?” that the use of other bodily fluids, such as sweat, saliva, urine or semen might be just as effective as an energy of magic as the all too common concept of the shedding of blood, depending, of course, upon the particular spell. But in doing so we were still looking at magic and its empowerment from a materialistic point of view in which something physical needs to be used to activate the magic, which is essentially spiritual in nature, blood being the substance most often used and referred to in books, movies, and television shows.

But the elven point of view, and thus our perspective concerning magic and enchantment, is not primarily material in nature any more than our own conception of our elfin being is material. Our material bodies are transitory manifestations of our spirits and our soulful energy. We are not our bodies. Our bodies are just clothes, so to speak, that our spirits are wearing. And while we may be descended by genetics, which is to say, by blood, from those individuals such as the ancient Scythians who are currently regarded as being some of the ancient elves, and thus from the Bloodline of the Elven (see De Vere The Dragon Legacy), it is our spirits and our magic that actually determine if we are elven or not. It is our elven natures that make us elven, really, not our physical bodies.

So, it is that when we suggested that seminal fluid might be as, or more, efficacious in creating magic, we were really making a sort of materialistic analogy or metaphor for the reality of the situation. It is not blood, or semen or any other physical fluid that is the key to energizing the magic, but ecstasy as evidenced by both the practices of ancient and modern shamans and tantric practitioners. Joy, happiness and pleasure are the true activators of magic. Sexual effluvia is merely the byproduct of that energy and activity. (see Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy by Mircea Eliade.)

It is not blood or any other material thing that delights the Shining Ones who help, guide and aid us as best they are able, but our happiness that delights them, just as a child’s delight brings joy to the hearts of the adults that watch hir (her/him) so our joy brings greater delight to those kindred of ours who live upon the more subtle planes of manifestation.

Why is this so? It is so because the nature of the higher planes of being are ecstatic (see The Tibetan Book of the Dead: Liberation Through Understanding the Between translated by Robert A. F. Thurman). The realms of Elfin, of the heavenly realms, the realms of paradise as formulated by various peoples are places where happiness abides, love rules, and joy lives in the hearts of each and all. By creating ecstatic states of being, which is to say by being happy, being joyous and filled with ecstatic energy, we are attuning ours’elves to those higher realms and the spirits who abide there, making it easier to communicate with them as well as enchant much of the world around us. In experiencing the joy of ecstatic being, we become like the Shining Ones, one of them, and share in their great power to move and affect the worlds.

Oh, it is true there are dark spirits in the world who are in so much pain that they can’t abide happiness in others and seek to destroy that happiness, even though that will not help them even a little bit to find happiness themselves and will just drag them deeper into the wicked magics that have ensnared them. But, they have given up on the idea that happiness is even possible for them and they simply wish others to share their misery and suffering, although misery is like fire, sharing it doesn’t make it any less. They offer blood and suffering to the darkness but while doing so may give them a temporary psychotic thrill, that path nearly always ends with madness and despair.

So, it is that we elfin must sometimes hide our magic, restrain from flaunting our happiness, while remaining aware, as the Shining Ones are, that while we are filled with joy within there are others who have yet to realize that the true nature of the Universe is ecstasy, which is the source of all true magic. Thus, we go forth humbly, our joy serene, as we seek our kindred in the world and spread the magic that arises from the delight of being elven.

Zardoaquote23

“At the edge of the woods,
the elfin do wait,
you don’t know it yet,
but you have a date,
the date isn’t set,
yet destiny knows
that deep in your soul
the elf magic grows.”
—Elven Spell of Awakening, The Silver Elve
